In an appalling attempt to patent yet another seed, Monsanto has resorted to fraud to try to gain rights to a tomato which contains a naturally occurring resistance to a fungal disease called botrytis. The tomato is not genetically modified, but Monsanto manipulated documents to make the plant look ‘invented’ by biotech when the plant’s true maker is Mother Nature, herself.

Representatives of No Patents on Seeds! have called attention to this shady play of the biotech industry to try to outrun their failing genetic experiments. Florida veteran Larry Murphree has been charged by his homeowners association for displaying an American flag in his flower pot, Fox News reported.

“When I first moved here, I loved it. … But it’s just gotten more … nitpick more and more,” Murphree told WAWS.

WTLV reported that each day Murphree keeps the flag in the pot is a $100 fine. The homeowner is now being billed $8,000 for violation and attorney fees. Continue reading “Florida man may lose home over display of American flag”

WASHINGTON – The first contingent of U.S. military advisers arrived in Iraq Tuesday to assess conditions and begin assisting Iraqi security forces after Islamist militants have seized several key cities.

The Pentagon said 90 American personnel arrived from outside the country, and 40 were already in Iraq as part of the U.S. Embassy’s defense staff.

Private property was created in the United States of America through the issuance of land patents that transferred title of public lands to named individuals, and to their heirs and assigns forever. Each patent was signed by the President of the United States in office at the time. These transfers were direct from the national government to the individual. The States were not involved. The deadly Ebola virus outbreak in West Africa has hit “unprecedented” proportions, according to relief workers on the ground.

“The epidemic is out of control,” Dr. Bart Janssens, director of operations for Doctors Without Borders, said in a statement.

MCALLEN, Texas—In one weekend, the U.S. Border Patrol prevented murder suspects, multiple sex offenders, and an MS-13 gang member from entering the interior of Texas after they illegally entered into the U.S. from Mexico. The arrests occurred in the Rio Grande Valley sector, ground zero of the current border crisis.

Make Magazine recently featured a tutorial on constructing a FM pirate radio transmitter using a Raspberry Pi board. Raspberry Pis are single board computers that go for about $55 and are regularly used as the centerpiece for a wide variety of projects ranging from art installations to automation and everything in between.

The FM transmitter will broadcast stored media within a limited range to any FM radio receiver nearby. It is a versatile proof of concept that can be used as is to “cover your home, DIY drive-in movie, a high school ball game, or even a bike parade.” In the comment sections below the entry, readers could already be seen expanding the parameters of the project to add more options and increase its utility.
