MCALLEN, Texas–A federal judge sentenced a Texas sheriff to five years in prison for taking money from a South Texas drug lord linked to Mexican cartels.

On Thursday morning, U.S. District Judge Micaela Alvarez delivered harsh words to former Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño during his sentencing hearing. HOUSTON — Hundreds of birds were poisoned and killed at Bush Intercontinental Airport this past weekend as part of a “bird abatement project” that animal rights groups call cruel and inhumane.

Just after daybreak on Saturday and Sunday, the I-Team captured on video something strange happening—birds dropping mysteriously from the sky in distress.

Illinois –-(Ammoland.com)- The Niles Village Council will soon take a final vote on whether to allow a gun shop and pistol range to open in the village.

The application for the permit to open the range was voted on earlier this summer and approved by the Planning Board by a 6:1 vote.

Malaysian Airlines MH17 plane was travelling almost the same route as Russia’s President Vladimir Putin’s jet shortly before the crash that killed 295, Interfax news agency reports citing sources.

“I can say that Putin’s plane and the Malaysian Boeing intersected at the same point and the same echelon. That was close to Warsaw on 330-m echelon at the height of 10,100 meters. IDF ground forces began to move into the Gaza Strip on Thursday evening, the prime minister’s office confirmed.

The purpose of the operation was  to destroy the Gazan terror tunnels leading to Israel, according to a statement released by the prime minister’s office.

“Israel is committed to act to protect its citizens. More than 57,000 unaccompanied children, mostly from Central America, have been caught entering the country illegally since last October, and President Barack Obama has asked for $3.7 billion in emergency funding to address what he has called an “urgent humanitarian solution.”

STOCKTON — Stockton Police have identified the surviving bank robbery suspect on multiple charges, including homicide, after a prolonged chase and shootout on Wednesday in which a hostage and two suspects died.

A Malaysia Airlines plane carrying was reportedly shot down near the Ukraine-Russia border Thursday, killing all 295 people on board, an adviser to Ukraine’s interior ministry said.

An aide quoted by Interfax said the total number of dead in the crash was more than 300 and includes 23 U.S. citizens.

WAILUKU, Hawaii (AP) — The discovery of the jawbone of a missing, pregnant Maui woman helped authorities file a murder charge against her ex-boyfriend, a person familiar with the investigation said Wednesday.
