A pair of suspicious pressure cookers shut down a subway station in lower Manhattan on Friday morning, according to sources and police.
Authorities urged straphangers to avoid the Fulton Street subway station because of the suspicious packages, which were reported by a 911 caller.
The station was evacuated out of “an abundance of caution,” a police spokesperson said. The NYPD’s Bomb Squad responded.
Police said they were unsure what the packages contained or if they were dangerous, but there would be an increased police presence in the area near Fulton and William streets as cops investigate.
In a tweet, the department said, “Expect a police presence and emergency vehicles in the area. Check @NYCTSubway for possible schedule changes. More info to follow.”
Delays and changes to service were reported on the 2, 3, 4, 5, A, C, J and Z lines due to the investigation, according to the MTA.

A third was found a few blocks away from me seconds after the cops gave the all clear for Fulton St. Choppers have been hovering right overhead. It’s been a loud morning. LOL

LOL… was just talking to the lady that works here about this one… saying how long it’s been since one of these has popped up. She told me about a Wally World she worked at a few years ago that was shut down for about six hours for a pressure cooker in the parking lot rigged to look like a bomb – full of nails and such, but no explosive charge.
Now off to see what’s not posted here already.
