Police in Massachusetts offered some words of wisdom Monday night: Getting drunk and chasing bears through the woods with a dull hatchet is “not advised.”
The North Adams Police Department posted on Facebook that a “Davy Crockett” wannabe was taken into “protective custody” after police found him chasing a bear through the woods with a hatchet.
“Yes that really did happen tonight,” the police department statement said.
The statement urged residents to leave bears alone and call the police if they spot one.
“The North Adams Police Department is urging everyone to NOT chase bears through the woods with a dull hatchet, drunk,” the post said.
The police department said they were still trying to figure out what “the hatchet man” planned to do once he caught the bear.
“Any thoughts on what he was going to do if he did locate it? We would certainly like to hear because we have no idea,” police said.

I’d rather call in the bears if I spot a cop.
Or… don’t get drunk, and you probably wouldn’t be idiotic enough to go after a BEAR with a dull hatchet.
