A Tennessee police officer shot and killed the driver of a pickup truck the officer was trying to arrest for suspected driving under the influence, authorities said on Monday.

Joshua Grubb, 30, of Lebanon, Tennessee, was killed on Sunday after he tried to flee the scene in Lenoir City, Tennessee, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said. Lenoir City is about 30 miles southwest of Knoxville.

The officer was sent to investigate a possible DUI and spotted the truck matching the description of the vehicle in question at a convenience store, the TBI said. The officer made contact with the occupants and while trying to make an arrest jumped into the truck bed to try to prevent Grubb from fleeing, the TBI said.

The officer remained in the truck bed as the vehicle left the parking lot and pulled onto the road. The officer fired shots into the cab after ordering Grubb to stop, the TBI said. The driver was struck and killed, and the truck stopped at the side of the road.

The officer was not identified by the TBI, which is investigating the shooting, and Lenoir City Police Chief Don White said the officer’s identity was not being released at this time. A decision on whether to release video from the officer’s car would be made after consultation with the TBI, White said.

The officer did not sustain any significant injuries, and White said the officer was put on administrative leave with pay during the investigation.

  1. Let us look at this another way.
A private contractor in a costume kills a man that the contractor has suspicions about being under the influence of some unknown legal substance. This costumed contractor will be found to have acted within undisclosed guidelines in murdering people that are suspicious to him. I am surprised that the costumed contractor was not killed after the driver decided to leave his body and let the truck go where it wanted.

  2. “The officer made contact with the occupants and while trying to make an arrest jumped into the truck bed to try to prevent Grubb from fleeing, the TBI said.”

What did he do, ride a bicycle to the location? Where was HIS vehicle?

“The officer fired shots into the cab after ordering Grubb to stop,…”

I think that was his intent all all along. This sh#t-for-brains troglodyte WANTED to murder someone, and this guy provided the perfect opportunity.

Apparently, DUI is a capital crime these days.

    Tick, tock…
