BALLWIN, MO (KTVI)- Authorities are investigating after a police officer was shot during a traffic stop Friday morning in west St. Louis County. It happened shortly before 11 a.m. near the 300 block of New Ballwin Road. According to our partners at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the wound was in the neck.
The officer, who works for the Ballwin Police Department, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.
The suspect was apprehended a short time later in the 800 block of Burgundy Lane after a foot pursuit. A handgun was recovered.
Police say he is a tall, thin African-American male who was wearing a gray tee-shirt and blue jeans.
He was driving a blue Ford Taurus with Illinois temporary tags during the time of the shooting.

That’s unfortunate but unsurprising. The lethality of firearms (especially handguns and FMJ rifle rounds) is highly overrated. Shots to the brain or upper spinal cord are very desirable for a quick kill. There are documented cases of individuals taking multiple rounds of 9mm and .45 ACP to the chest and surviving. Even with the heart destroyed, it’s possible to continue fighting for as much as ten seconds longer — very dangerous at close range.

Ah, but we still have much to celebrate. FIVE pigs, and possibly more, will no longer be kidnapping people for victimless crimes, beating people down out of spite or for fun, planting evidence, lying in court, or covering up for the crimes of other pigs. (I know some believe the Dallas incident was staged, but I’m not convinced.)
