Residents of Arivaca, Arizona and supporters are shutting down the US Border Patrol checkpoint on Arivaca Road, calling on US Congressman Grijalva to deliver on his promise to hold a federal hearing on the issue before DHS officials. Community members are demanding the removal of all internal Border Patrol checkpoints, starting with the one on Arivaca Road, and are calling for an end to the militarization of their community. Today’s protest is part of a day of action being organized by communities throughout the Arizona-Mexico borderlands and on the Tohono O’odham Nation.
UPDATES:
11:30am – The checkpoint sit-in continues. Residents are holding a community hearing with people speaking out against the checkpoint and border militarization, and calling on Rep. Grijalva to support the closing of the checkpoint on Arivaca Rd. Tucson Border Patrol Sector Chief Manuel Padilla is in attendance. Residents are sharing their stories, detailing the negative impacts of the checkpoint and of Border Patrol, and talking about the scores of people who have died crossing the desert as a direct result of border militarization and the existence of internal checkpoints.

I wonder how long it’ll be before the DHS starts Beating and arresting People.
Note that they do not want the border SHUT DOWN they want the people who are “supposed” to keep the illegals out GONE. They are protesting AGAINST stopping the illegals, read carefully the language used, they are upset that ILLEGALS are DYING because of checkpoints and want them removed so they will be able to cross FASTER. They are covering themselves in false “patriotism” as opposing “militarization” when they are actually trying to remove everything that stands in the illegals and drug runners way. This stinks of COMMUNIST INVOLVEMENT.
Good catch Vekar. I just reread the story and I think you are correct. False Patriots.
Not sure what I think here. Did anyone read this article on that same site? “Arizona activists protest Israeli firms militarizing the border.”
