This is the moment an off-duty NYPD officer burning rubber in a black Lexus skids across three lanes of traffic and slams into a concrete barrier early Saturday on the FDR Drive, leaving the young cop dead and two others seriously injured.
Footage obtained by The Post shows the Lexus, driven by an off-duty cop identified as Garman Chen, flying down the northbound lane at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
The 2016 Lexus can be seen passing another car on the left — then zooming past the car filming again on the right, skidding across three lanes into a concrete barrier beneath a pedestrian bridge near E 23rd Street, exploding sparks across the roadway.
The high-speed crash left Officer Chen dead, and threw his two passengers from the wreckage — an FDNY firefighter who suffered body trauma and a woman whose right foot was severed, officials said.
After the crash, the expressway closed all lanes to remove the car, which was seen twisted around the barrier, video shows.
Both surviving victims remained at Bellevue Hospital in stable condition Saturday, authorities said.
Well that’s a recipe for disaster, right there.
