Son Buys His Widowed Mother a Gun – Just 1 Week Later, She Needed It

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Just a week after her son bought his widowed mother a firearm as a gift, she ended up needing it.

According to local media reports:

Columbus Police at the scene tell 10TV a widow heard someone breaking in, grabbed her gun and shot the intruder.

“She was armed and apparently fired multiple shots at him,” said Sgt. Dave Sicilia.

The woman’s son says he bought the gun for her a week ago to keep her safe now that she is living alone, but he never thought she would actually have to use it.

The deceased suspect is believed to have been responsible for other burglaries in the area. The victim was unharmed.

It’s unknown what type of firearm the woman used, but whatever it was it served the purpose of defending her and her home.
