  1. I was only born in ’47 but I remember most of that stuff – what a nice break in the rest of the crap thats going on

  2. Thanks, rbeason! I’m a ’49er and remember these things so well. And the Statler Brothers were one of my favorite groups. Sure miss those days and good times.

  3. Born in 1950 here, and yes, I do remember most of these things. Thanks for the reminders. Nothing like a pleasant trip back in time. 😀
    . . .

      1. actually I want to come clear here
        this post….beautiful one at that
is by the staff of yours and my site…fromthetrenchesworldreports.com
they are two of the most interior, emotions, of all, beauty;s we will come across on this our internet
and they did this to uplift us all…
        also, I think it is a success…..
        Not that we needed uplifting
don’t think that was on their mind.
In their hearts, I believe they have happiness as a goal even through they operate a web site which by the moment of the day requires much sadness be reported…each and every day……..
So, you and I are the better for that..
        of their thinking
        we have to remember,
        as I always do
this site has little …comment going to a review board
        Now Gracious Sakes
What in The Hell Does that say of these people who own, manage, this site?
        Wow…thats what it says

  4. Paula Walker
    Cathleen
both of you have been here much, much longer than I
don’t know about the other two people…
my thoughts are that this post is no different than recently……….
looking out my back door or than………looking out my front door
done for the smile to be upon all who come to this site.
If either of you or myself were to run one of these sites, day after day, no less, for years……….well, things would permit the song mode…….

    1. You know what it shows-that Henry and Laura, and all others that are family on “From the Trenches” are REAL people, who are in a fight to save our republic from the evil communistic scum who are working from within to destroy it. And as real people, we get angry, we are concerned, we get depressed, and yes, we enjoy a good laugh or the lighter side of life once in awhile just to keep us balanced. As for me, I am a fun lover who would love to live my life without the constant threat from “gubberment”! But I guess each of us are here for a reason at this particular time in history. I have 12 young reasons that I will fight to the death for, as I don’t see a very bright future for them unless we do. I only wish that each preceding generation had been vigilant to stop the creeping invasion into our republican form of government, and therefore it is our turn to stand and face the enemy regardless of the end result-give me liberty or give me death.

  5. Yes, I remember 🙂 and I wish life could be that way again, honest – for the most part, sweet, and simple, 🙂 I really miss those days.

    1. yes…me also
      and saying so
does not mean you or I or anyone else
      are wimps
      want to test me
you are dead in your fu….d…….k….ing
      tracks
      before a shot is fired
      except from my weapon
      YOU SEE
      LOVE is not a weakness………..
      It is but a Strength………
      remember that
all who come to enslave each of us

  6. What? No, “Counting flowers on the wall, doesn’t bother me at all, playing solitaire til dawn with a deck of 51, smoking cigarettes and watching Kaptain Kangaroo, now don’t tell me, I got nothin’ to do…”
