McALLEN – Authorities in McAllen arrested a suspect linked to a murder in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
The suspect is accused of taking part in a gang-style hit in the community of Southlake.
The murder happened on May 22, 2013, near a shopping mall. The victim, Jesus Guerrero Chapa, was a lawyer with drug cartel ties.
Guerrero was sitting in the passenger seat of his Range Rover while his wife loaded groceries. A white SUV pulled up behind, one man jumped out and opened fire.
Guerrero was hit numerous times and died at a local hospital.
The gunmen speed away seemingly without a trace. Police asked federal authorities for help.
Now, court documents reveal Jesus Gerardo Ledezma Cepeda was charged with interstate stalking. Prosecutors claim Ledezma stalked his victim from 2011 until the date of the murder in 2013.
Guerrero was a prominent attorney who was said to have business interests in both Mexico and McAllen.
