WEB Notes: Your government thinks you are a complete idiot. Kerry says the United States is not going to war. Then he proceeds to explain exactly what steps of war they will take against Assad. In his mind, dropping bombs on nations and killing people is not considered war. In times of old the citizens would have marched to the capital with their pitch forks and ousted the clowns running the circus.
(Video, IBT) – US secretary of state John Kerry has given an ultimatum to Syrian president Bashar al-Assad to avoid a military strike by turning over his entire chemical weapons arsenal to the international community within the next week.
At a joint press conference with UK foreign secretary William Hague, Kerry said that America was not going to war but would launch an “unbelievably small and limited effort” to punish the Assad regime for the 21 August chemical weapons attack in Ghouta and to deter it from doing it again.
“If you want to send Assad a congratulatory message, you would support non-intervention,” he said although he was sympathetic to fears of the American public who do not want to see troops coming home in body bags.
“But that’s not what we are talking about,” he stressed. “Military effort will be targeted and short-term.”
Kerry added that the only thing Assad’s government could do to stop an attack was to turn over all his chemical weapons to the international community within the next week.
“But he is not about to do it and it cannot be done,” Kerry added.
He said that the evidence gathered about the chemical attack blaming the Assad regime was “real evidence I could take into a courtroom”.
“I’ve personally tried people who have gone away for long prison sentences or for life for less evidence than we have for this,” he said.
“[Assad offers only] words that are contradicted by facts.”
Kerry also quoted the late British prime minister Margaret Thatcher in stressing that the UK and America were “real and true friends”.
The special relationship between the two countries was as relevant today as it has been in the past, he said. – IBT Times: Syria Crisis Ultimatum: Kerry Tells Assad Turn in Chemical Weapons within One Week

Assad would be mad to surrender these weapons because I believe they are the only thing that is stopping “boots on the ground” right now.
No one notice the hypocrisy here where the US and UK both have extensive chemical and biological weapon arsenals are asking another nation to surrender theirs whilst they keep their own?
As for Hague, I state that his stance is that of treason, he has been ordered by the House of Commons that we may not permit nor entertain military strikes against Syria, he is aware that the will of the people in the greater majority do not want this either yet he and Cameron are defying the house and even working against its decision by continuing to advocate for military strikes and that they are defying parliament for a foreign power above the interests and decisions of the British people makes it treasonous
British people should email their MP’s and ask them if they are happy that Cameron and Hague are openly defying the House of Commons and the MP’s decision to follow the path of diplomacy.
It sure is good, angry grandparent, to know there are other within so called western allies who speak their minds in support of
anti war…..and in support of peace….
Peace only arrives via those people who themselves are peaceful.
thanks for being a commentator on this site.
One of the Brits….John Lennon said it
Give Peace a chance…
As for myself, I involuntarily, was a part of the Vietnam War…
If that war had not happened, rather there was peace, think of all the millions of dead or wounded lives of people, animals, plants and the soil itself…that would have remained, enriching life itself…..
Yet, south vietnam yet suffers to this day…..from the US Murder machine…that passed through its sovereign boarders…..
Oh that’s right! The US Was Going to Save it……….Yea, I see the results……..
