Washington DC – -(Ammoland.com)- In a change from preceding years, schools in Shamrock, Texas now have a sign on their premises warning would-be attackers that armed teachers are ready to use to force to defend children.
Located about 80 miles east of Amarillo on I-40, Shamrock is a sleepy little town steeped in the traditions and lifestyle that many people think of when they think of Texas.
Now they will also be known for one more thing—kissing the idea of sitting unarmed in a gun free zone goodbye.
KHOU.com reports the word “ATTENTION” appears in all caps across the top of the sign, a shamrock beside it. Beneath it the following message appears: “Please beware that the staff at Shamrock ISD is armed and may use whatever force is necessary to protect our students.”
The district also installed more cameras and bulletproof glass.
According to KHOU, “most parents are happy with the additions” and see them as consistent with keeping kids safe.
