The largest Russian fleet in Mediterranean waters since Soviet dissolution

Russian fleetMiddle East Monitor

For the first time since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, a large number of ships from the Russian fleet are gathering along the Syrian coast of the Mediterranean. In the midst of a potential US-led strike on the Al-Assad regime, many wonder what is the reason behind the unprecedented Russian presence in the region?

More than ten ships and an unknown number of Russian submarines are now in Mediterranean waters, amassing a presence for first time since the dissolution of the fifth military fleet of the Soviet Union in 1992.

Observes remarked that rapid developments in the region and the potential strike on Syria demand, in return, a fast and appropriate response from Russia. Therefore, they expect that Russia’s military presence in regional waters is more than just showing off.

Observers and analysts come to this conclusion based on the quality of the fleet rather than the quantity of the ships that have come to the area. They said that the Russian fleet forms a “safety channel” for the Syrian regime.

Based on Russian military information, news agencies reported that these ships are to be used to transfer weapons to the Syrian regime and to evacuate Russian citizens from Syria if needed.

But speaking to Al-Jazeera TV, retired Egyptian colonel Safwat al-Zayyat, who is a senior military analyst, ruled out any direct involvement by Russia in the proposed war with Syria.

Al-Zayyat also ruled out the possibility that American jets would strike Syrian ports where Russian ships are located, based on a kind of reciprocal respect between the two powers, which was also clear during the Russian war in Georgia in 2008. He explained that during the 2008 war, the Russians did not target American ships positioned in the Georgian ports.

  1. It’s all moot, the Syrians have accepted the idea of international control of their chem-weps. It was Putin who put forth the idea. War avoided. Sorry pre-millennialist Christians, Jesus won’t be returning over this. (God has shown himself strong through a more righteous nation that the USA.)

      1. A lot of Believers see it. Like I said in a previous post, if we still stoned false prophets, there’s be a LOT of dead Christians. Every time someone farts in the Middle East, the preemies start claiming prophecy’s being fulfilled, the farter is the antichrist, and we’re all going up in the “rapture”. It’s now at the point of ludicrous. Some money grabbing prophecy expert will probably write another book and gullible preemies will run out and snatch it up.

I was around for the Edgar Weisenant farce in the late eighties (88 Reasons Why Jesus Will Return in 1988) and it’s sequel (ROFL) (89 Why Jesus Will Return on 1989 or some similar sounding crap)

God didn’t tell Jesus when He was coming back, how in the world is it that these clowns think He told THEM?

Jesus will come. That is a given. When is not a given. Quit making fools of yourselves preemies and do something to stop this cultural rot in the US instead of speculating about the Parousia.

  2. For a so – called “hoaxbuster”, you sure like to put out hoaxes. Kerry put forth the idea; replying to a reporter’s question if there was anything Assad could do to stop an American attack. Horseface liar Kerry said if Assad would turn his chemical weapons over to the international community, he might avoid an attack. Putin jumped on it immediately as did Assad. Putin clearly played the morons Obama and Kerry like a fiddle. There are still no guarantees the US won’t attack Syria though and no certainty war will be avoided.

    1. Exactly my thoughts, too. They all seem to be putting all their eggs in one basket and thereby leaving their own country’s borders open for invasion and destruction.

In fact, I find it all the more curious as to why all the attention is focused on this region and nothing on our own soil? Especially with a few missing nukes on the loose and Russian UN troops. And what about Europe. All of this seems to be too much of a show for me that I can’t help but think that something bigger is developing on our soil or outside the Middle Eastern area of conflict.

Remember, everything happens for a reason with these bastards. I try not think this stop happened by accident. I tend to think this is all according to their plan in some way and if they are delaying it to October then that goes along perfectly with the FEMA Region III drills and then the following month is the Power Grid Drill. Meaning something in this country is going to happen and we are all looking to the Middle East for answers when maybe we should be looking on our own soil for another false flag.

      Stay Vigilant.

  3. Hoaxbuster, if you think the 80’s is the same as this, you’re on crack. Did we have Nazi Gestapo cops in the 80’s? Did we have the fourth Reich visible on the streets in the 80’s? Did we go to war with more than 5 countries in 10 years in the 80’s? Did we have the Constitution and Bill of Rights ripped to shreds in the 80’s? Did we have a foreigner as president of our country in the 80’s trying to destroy our country from within?

Dude, wake up and smell the coffee or is that Starbucks Commie coffee you have been drinking?

Go live in denial somewhere else. I hear Kim Kardashian calling you from her trailer.

    1. Hoaxbuster once an idiot your always an IDIOT.
      You idiot.
Shut up, your too stupid to talk. If you have no idea what is going on out there keep your dumb ass comments to yourself.
I suppose you still think that the planes on 9-11 were hijacked by muslims . The 2 towers fell because of structure failure due to the jet fuel. Building 7 fell because it was damaged by the towers.
      LMFAO..
