JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Two young men playing with fireworks late Monday night in Jersey City were shot in what witnesses and local outlets are calling a police-involved shooting.

Now the mother of one of the men shot is demanding to know how playing with fireworks could lead to her son being shot.

Police responded just before 11:30 p.m. Monday to Randolph Avenue in the Bergen/Lafayette neighborhood of Jersey City, when the two teens were reportedly setting off fireworks, witnesses tell PIX11 News. What led to shots being fired is not currently known.

One of the victims, 21-year-old Davonte Moore, was was shot three times, in both of his knees and the leg, his mother Katrina Moore told PIX11’s Anthony DiLorenzo Tuesday.

Moore said her son will have emergency surgery Tuesday. Moore said Davonte plays football at Iowa Western Community College in Iowa and she now fears he’ll never play again.

The 19-year-old second victim spoke exclusively with PIX11’s Anthony DiLorenzo early Tuesday from the hospital, saying he and the other teen were setting off roman candle fireworks when police confronted them and then shots were fired. He was reportedly released from the hospital around 5:30 a.m.

Police have not confirmed this information.

One of the teens shot was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center by ambulance, while the second teen was taken to the same hospital by a private car, NJ.com reports.

  1. Pigs HATE to see anyone having fun, In fact, I suspect they sit around the pig depot and fume over the fact that somewhere, someone might be having a good time.

  2. “What led to shots being fired is not currently known.”

    Oh… it’s KNOWN, alright.

They were fired by PIGS, who have ZERO AUTHORITY TO EVEN EXIST TO BEGIN WITH.

What led to shots being fired is their mongoloid (barely there) mentality… CRIMINALS TO THE CORE!!!
