US senator vows to push US to recognise Israel’s sovereignty over Golan Heights

US Senator Lindsey Graham yesterday pledged to push Washington to recognise Israel’s sovereignty over Syria’s Golan Heights, the New York Times reported.

During a tour near the Syrian area, which was occupied by Israel in 1967, Graham said he would work hard to change the Golan’s status from an occupied territory to be part of Israel.

While touring the area along with the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Graham said: “The Golan is not disputed. It is in the hands of Israel and will always remain in the hands of Israel.”

He added: “My goal is to try to explain this to the administration.”
