Walmart is planning a store without cashiers

Walmart’s NYC-based innovation center is experimenting with a cashier-less store concept called Project Kepler, which “aims to reimagine the in-store shopping experience with the help of technologies like computer vision,” Recode reports.

  • Project Kepler is in part aimed at creating a store that would feature no checkout lines or cashiers, but use computer vision to detect which products customers leave the store with and then charge their accounts accordingly.

Why it matters: Amazon is also experimenting without cashiers, while roughly 3.5 million Americans operate cash registers for a living.

Recode also reports that Walmart’s new start-up subsidiary, called Code 8, is experimenting with “high personalised, one-to-one shopping experiences,” that will be marketed to “busy NYC moms.”

  1. Getting ready for a fema camp tune up. While your inside the walmart fema facility with no way out, you will at least have a smart shopping experience.

    You’ll be rounded up, bank accounts hijacked, and used until emptied while your enjoying your stay.

    That’s all they care about
    Screw the people who need jobs (no matter how low the pay)
    Anymore, I won’t use those self checkouts
    It’s eliminating start up ,or low paying jobs

    There are hardly any jobs for kids these days
    And here is one reason why , along with our decimated economy
    I’m not working for any of these places that have self checkout, I’m not their employee
    I’m not doing someone’s job so some fat cat can get fatter
    I see it even in larger industries , robots taking over and unemployment numbers rising
    Even though they falsely report the numbers

    We have to look at the bright side.

    Now at least at Wal-Mart.
    We’ll have a designated place to complain at while there’s 10 fkng empty cash registers.

    They would fill them ..with real mexicans.

    So you wouldn’t have to diddle your smart phone in line.

    But then that would be efficient and effective.

    Plus. . I would be cheated from observing the zoo.

    I’m really used to saying…
