Washington Navy Yard on lockdown as police respond to reports of active shooter

Yahoo News

DC police are responding to reports of an active shooter at the Washington Navy Yard Thursday morning. Few details about the ongoing incident have been confirmed, including whether there are any victims, but the U.S. Navy tweeted just before 8 a.m. that the facility was on lockdown.

Less than an hour later, local CBS affiliate WUSA9 tweeted that, according D.C. Fire officials, there have been no reported injuries and everyone at the Navy Yard has been accounted for.

Other local outlets noted Secret Service and Homeland Security officials on the scene, in addition to the D.C. Metro, Capitol and U.S. Park Police. And WUSA has said that, according to a police source, Navy security were searching for two potential gunmen. Still, there have been no confirmed sightings of a shooter at this point.

The Washington Navy Yard was the site of a deadly shooting that killed 13 people, including gunman Aaron Alexis, in September 2013. The 34-year-old Alexis, a government contractor, had only been working at the Navy Yard for less than a week before the shooting rampage. According to details that emerged in the immediate aftermath, Alexis had been experiencing delusions and had enscribed “End the torment!” onto the barrel of his shotgun.

Thursday’s incident comes days after federal authorities urged local law enforcement agencies nationwide to be on high alert ahead of the July 4 weekend.

  1. “Nevermind, we fooled you! Ha, Ha. Yes, we are certain the controlled MSM is ready to report anything at any time without confirmation!” Oh, look! A fleet of Alien Spaceships! Let’s see how long it takes Anderson Cooper to get “on location.”

  2. yeah, yeah, yeah. You should expect at least one “domestic terror” event per week now. (if they don’t happen everyday)

  3. Navy shipyards sure are popular “targets” these days? We definitely know they’re not to be trusted as they seem to be offering up facilities left and right for cinematic terror productions!

  4. Talk about beating a dead horse, can’t the False Flag Network air something else besides reruns?
