West Wing Evacuated Shortly After Capitol Bomb Threat, Authorities Say

ABC News

The West Wing at the White House has been evacuated shortly after the Capitol community had its own scare when a bomb threat was phoned into a Senate office building.

It is unclear whether the two events are related and no reason has been given for the West Wing evacuation. It’s also unclear whether staff was also evacuated.

Shortly after noon, the U.S. Capitol Police evacuated a portion of the Dirksen Senate Office Building after an unidentified individual phoned in a bomb threat.

A short time later, U.S. Capitol Police investigated a second suspicious package that was in the Russell Office Building’s courtyard that turned out to be an unattended lunch cooler.

The phoned bomb threat at the Dirksen building also was cleared and nothing hazardous was located.

At the White House, the press corps was moved to the South Court Auditorium in Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

Secret Service officers are currently working with a bomb-sniffing K-9 unit to clear the James Brady Press Briefing Room.

  1. I would say that the White House can’t be out done by the Capital. Therefore they had to have one to. Don’t let a good line of BS go to waste.

  2. i never understood why supposed terrorists would call in with a warning first or why they would wait til a plane load of people were in the air, when there were way more people back at the terminal.
    thank hollyweird for that bs.
