Wife Arrested In Poisoning Investigation of Ashtabula County Judge

A bizarre story coming out of Ashtabula, Ohio.
The elderly wife of a county judge is sitting in jail, charged with trying to kill him.

The details of the arrest are still unfolding. But investigators say a woman is in custody, charged with intentionally poisoning her husband, who’s also a common pleas judge.  

71-year old Carla Rae Hague, the victim’s wife, is being held in an Ohio jail.
She’s been charged with felonious assault, and investigators say she will be charged with attempted murder.
Carla allegedly tried to kill her husband by poisoning him with antifreeze.

Charles Hague is a county judge in the court of common pleas in Ashtabula, Ohio.
He’s a judge in the probate and juvenile court divisions.

The Ashtabula county sheriff says he had been intentionally poisoned with antifreeze back on September 19th.
The investigation began after family members called police, to report Judge Hague got sick in his home, was hospitalized in Cleveland, and found to have a high level of antifreeze in his system.

Judge Hague is now recovering at home.
Carla Hague is in jail, and the investigation is on-going.
She has not yet been arraigned, that first court appearance is set for Wednesday.
