Moscow (CNN) — An explosion at a train station in the Russian city of Volgograd killed at least 14 people, including one police officer, the Russian Investigative Committee said on its website Sunday.

The committee said 14 people had been killed and 40 people were injured.

A spokesman for the investigative committee said the bomber used the equivalent of 10 kilograms of TNT.

Video taken from an outside security camera shows a huge fireball inside what appears to be the main entrance followed by a steady trail of smoke coming out shattered windows.

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the Volgograd bombing victims, the Russian government said on Twitter.

Russia’s National Anti-Terror Committee told CNN that preliminary information suggests the blast was caused by a female suicide bomber.

It is the second bombing in the southern Russian city in two months and comes less than six weeks ahead of the Winter Olympics in Sochi, located less than 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) from Volgograd.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

In October, a bomber blew up a passenger bus, killing six people and wounding more than 30 others. Russian media reported that a female Islamist suicide bomber from the Russian region of Dagestan was responsible for the attack.

Volgograd is a major rail hub in the region, and many passengers have to pass through the station on their way to Moscow.

The restive region of Chechnya is also located in this southern portion of Russia.

  1. That is how ya get er done. I wish that someone would have the balls to do this here when the govt. is in session. At least if this was done here when the govt. is in session the guilty would die.

    1. Hey Digger……….good point. Hey by the way updates were loaded up this a.m. when i booted up. strange. when i send this i will know if it is still working.

  2. We now have “fire safe cigarettes”, that go out if you’re not dutifully sucking on the things.

I think they were legislated to deprive the people of the most common, and easy to make timer device — the cigarette fuse.

  3. “Study not the ways of your enemy too closly; lest they become your own!” – 14 people were killed at a train station – not sure how that helps the cause of freedom in general, nor, the American Patriot’s cause in particular. Frankly, calling for bombings in the united States is dangerous, counter-productive and sure to feed the negative propaganda mills of SPLC and their fellow travelers. Our enemy is playing chess; you seem to be playing checkers. Has your login been ‘false-flagged’ by someone in Tel Aviv?
