Whether the unemployment legislation passed in Oregon will help a single 99er will not be ascertained until the week of April 17th as it will not take effect until then. From what I have read I do not believe the legislation is for 99ers, but rather for those who have not yet reach 99 weeks.
During the duration of time when I was drawing my unemployment in the State of Oregon the state passed several extensions in order to get the unemployed through to the next federal extension.
I do find it interesting that considering the fact that state unemployment and extensions are determined by the state, that 99 weeks has somehow become the national standard for unemployment limitations. It is almost like our so called representatives in the state and federal governments were deliberating our fate every step of the way.
One gentleman on our site has suggested taking donations to raise money for a 99er commercial to be broadcast on the mainstream. This is not a bad idea, but here at From the Trenches as long as our people are living in squalor and deprivation I do not think that we can with conscience even consider asking any 99er for any money, as we must keep this site pure to the cause.
If and when we get an extension passed and there are enough 99ers out there to support the idea of using money as a means to push our demands for our living wage jobs back, it may be feasible, but only under the most controlled circumstances that guarantee that every cent goes exactly where the individual 99er intends.
Our congress has left us for another week to contemplate their lack of action. They somehow want to keep the issue of jobs front and center without ever having to address it. They love to use the word, “job” when trying to justify their outrageous activities in transferring more wealth from the poor to the rich and passing laws to protect their fortunes.
I can envision a scenario wherein the government puts a hundred protesters up against the wall, guns them down, and then proclaims the act as completely justified as they have just created a hundred jobs for the unemployed.
Although the press coverage has been brought to a minimum, union protests continue throughout the country. As I’ve said before, I support those protesters as individuals and in principal. But I cannot support labor unions as they are socialists at their core and harbor communistic ambitions.
The people protesting are earnest in their assertions for justice; however the unions behind them are concerned with nothing more than money and power.
This is why you do not see the unions paying for a commercial for the 99ers. They know that the fact is the jobs that once employed us are now in foreign countries and the only way they are going to be returned is through a constitutional revolution which is not going to leave any socialist or communist in any desirable position.
This is why the 99ers must join with their brethren and sisteren in the middle class for the reestablishment of our Republic. And the middle class must do whatever they have to, to see to it that the 99ers have the basic necessities to survive and fight at their sides.
The propagandist machine is failing more every day as true reality is becoming so omnipresent that it can no longer be ignored. I think the fact that the weather is warming as things continue to drastically get worse could cause decisive actions by the patriot population to begin to materialize and affect through the summer.
This being the case I say let us 99ers get the party started by putting every effort into seeing the Easter Project made a reality. Also April 2nd is coming up and many among our people are calling on us to be in the streets. I intend to participate and hope that all who reads this will do the same.
The fact is I believe that if we were having an event once a week, a little exposure would gradually turn into a lot, as 99ers not in the know would be seeing with their own eyes what is going on and want to participate. In short, 99ers and middle class, unite, unite, unite!

Good Morning Henry. I also mentioned the possibiliy of starting a fund for the Trenches. This is going to have to take place at some point because we can not do what we need to do without money. Henry, last nite, on the news, the Ministry of Propaganda again reported that the unemployment rate was only 9%. I understand that they’re only counting the people still getting benefits, but I can’t understand how they keep getting away with using that number. Tex, I’ve been the same position some months ago,and I feel for ya. I got help with my utilities from the Salvation Army. They can also help with your rent (one or the other every 6 months ). I’ve also gotten help from charitable Christian agencies or crisis assistance agencies. This helped me from Oct. till Feb. They can, on average, only help you once every 6 months. My son and I got evicted the 2nd week in Feb. because I still couldn’t find a job, but we’re lucky enough to have some friends let us stay with them TEMPORARILY. There is temporary help out there, but sometimes it’s hard to find it. Hang in there, brother. We’re all in the same boat. Some are just sinking faster than others

I called the Majority Leader and the Speaker of the House and left word to please pass HR 589. My wife and I are both unemployed. My upstairs neighbor is a 99er, my next door neighbor is one as well. He lost his house, I cannot pay our rent, purchase food or pay the utilities. Our govt is doing absolutely nothing to help Americans that need work or temporary assistance. I am sure they have no problem cutting checks to Japan or helping the rich. What are 5 million americans going to do? We have tightened our belts and have run out of options.
Maybe one of the Hollywood liberals could pay for a commercial to bring attention to the 99er’s. With congress on an extended leave and our milk toast leader preoccupied with another war it does not seem that our elected officials care. If no extension maybe lowering the retirement age to 60 could at least allow the older 99er’s some financial relief as no one will actually hire them!

I have had a 99ers donation button on every page of my website http://joblessunite.yolasite.com for months and months and also on my Zennie62 blogs and the donations have totaled a net of less than $11 – which remains in my PayPal account as I hope to use any money to HELP 99ers in some way and giving $ to this Trenches site is as good a use as any for funds collected.
Paypal takes almost $ .40 of the first dollar donated per donation. I know this because in the last 4 months I have had 1 person (a 99er in fact) generously give $1 and it registered as 62 cents.
It is a great idea to have a way to donate, but as I have personally discovered – not too many folks actually do donate when given the opportunity. I pray that changes.

Oregon’s Senate passed two bills for the unemployed. Senate Bill 637 is for those who have not yet reached the 99 week mark continue to recieve the Federal Extensions. But the House also passed Senate Bill 638, which offers an additional six weeks of state benefits to Oregonians who have been out of work for more than 99 weeks and have exhausted all other benefits, including the federal extensions. The Governor has already signed both.
State of Oregon Unemployment Insurance Legislation Signed by Governor
On Thursday, March 24, 2011, The Governor signed two bills relating to unemployment insurance benefits:
Senate Bill 637 allows for the continuation of the extended benefits (EB) program. The bill does not add additional weeks to the program; it allows the state to continue paying EB.
Senate Bill 638 allows for Oregon Emergency Benefits, an extension of unemployment insurance benefits for individuals who have exhausted all other extensions.
The first payable week will be the week of April 17-23, 2011. The department will send notice to all individuals potentially eligible. It is not necessary to contact your UI center at this time, as you cannot file for the extension early.Although SB 637 will not help 99’ers who have exhausted their benefits as of October 2010. SB 637 will help claimants who have not yet exhausted all of their regular benefits, Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) extension benefits, and Extended Benefits (EB). SB 637 will help those who have received less than 99 weeks receive up to 99 weeks. SB 638 will help 99’ers receive potentially 6 more weeks of Oregon Extended Benefits (OEB). It will also help people who have exhausted the benefits on their regular claim but did not earn sufficient wages in their base year to be eligible for EUC and EB. If SB 638 is passed and OEB becomes available, the Employment Department will immediately notify claimants by mail if they may be eligible.

I am 99er and 56 searching for a job for almost 3 yrs sending 1000’s of resumes only to get a response that we will keep your resume on file or you are over qualified. I have worked in Medical Field for 30 years and submitted resumes in every inconceivable Monster.com and our local Toledo Blade. They never even give me a response and some will. It frustrating when I want to work so bad and there 100’s out there also applying for the same job. Obama stated that Gadaffieduck must step down because he is killing his own people, so what the hell is Obama going to do in order to help us millions of 99ers who are suffering from lack of jobs and running out of unemployment benefits for months. Obama must be removed from power unless he wakes up to the plight of the 99ers NOW! We need new blood from within our new party come 2012 election, a candidate who is a 99er from the new “99ers” political Party (hey, if the Titties Party can do it, why can’t we?) because the Dumbocrats and Republican’ts are basically on the same side when it comes to helping the unemployed workers of America. How can a commission only job be classified as part-time? I am running out of options to survive folks, sold everything and borrowed up the ying yang without and I may have to either beg or steal to survive.
