Air strike kills 15 civilians in Yemen by mistake: officials

Please tell me why we still allow this to take place. Our government just murdered 15 civilians in another country. If someone did that to us, it would be considered an act of war.

(Reuters) – Fifteen people on their way to a wedding in Yemen were killed in an air strike after their party was mistaken for an al Qaeda convoy, local security officials said on Thursday.

The officials did not identify the plane in the strike in central al-Bayda province, but tribal and local media sources said that it was a drone.

“An air strike missed its target and hit a wedding car convoy, ten people were killed immediately and another five who were injured died after being admitted to the hospital,” one security official said.

Five more people were injured, the officials said.

The United States has stepped up drone strikes as part of a campaign against Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), regarded by Washington as the most active wing of the militant network.

Yemen, AQAP’s main stronghold, is among a handful of countries where the United States acknowledges using drones, although it does not comment on the practice.

Human Rights Watch said in a detailed report in August that U.S. missile strikes, including armed drone attacks, have killed dozens of civilians in Yemen.

Stabilizing the country, which is also struggling with southern separatists and northern rebels, is an international priority due to fears of disorder in a state that flanks top oil producer Saudi Arabia and major shipping lanes.

On Monday, missiles fired from a U.S. drone killed at least three people travelling in a car in eastern Yemen.

  1. Oh come on people…”It was an honest mistake”. (sarcasm)

Bulldog is right. We do this and it’s nothing, but when a supposed airliner crashes into the WTC, killing hundreds of people, it’s an all out war in the Middle East. So who are the terrorists now? Unbelievable!

    1. I hate to say it, but we are the terrorists in the eyes of the world.
We used to have a saying when we were in Iraq. Every one of them that is killed makes at least two more that we will fight later. That is why that war was never finished.
This shit is nuts. They should all be arrested for murder for allowing these drone strikes.

      1. You don’t have to say it. People are just too damn blind not to see it and realize it by now. The foreign government we have occupying America IS the terrorist. It’s high time we put a stop to that threat.

  2. Why? it’s called military intelligence. Two words that should never be used together. These guys can never seem to get the correct information.

  3. There are a lot of oxymorons in the military…how about “friendly fire.” That’s my favorite. I wonder how friendly it seems to the people being fired upon.
It’s not like this is an isolated incident. They do this stuff all the time. The only thing that matters is the military creates a funnel to suck the money from us to the elite. I’ve always wondered what a double or triple tap cost, and what exactly it does for democracy and humanitarian aid.
