A man, who robbed a store in an electric wheelchair, led police on a high speed chase.
29-year-old Michael Alan Hanby of California, was accused of stealing electronics from a South Bay mall before leading police on the high speed chase.
The incident began at Kmart on the 800 block of East H Street in Chula Vista about 9:30 p.m., where Hanby was suspected of stealing electronics and was confronted by employees.
He then pulled out a .22 caliber revolver and fled.
The handicapped man got into a wheelchair accessible van and drove off, prompting a 20 minutes police chase. Officers laid spike strips. One tire of his van was damaged, but he managed to continue driving.
The chase ended when the suspect finally stopped in the parking lot of the San Diego police headquarters.
In addition to the .22 caliber gun, the suspect was allegedly armed with a .40 caliber pistol, a knife, handcuffs, pepper spray and brass knuckles, according to Lt. Fritz Reber.
Hanby was booked into county jail on suspicion of robbery, evading arrest and various weapons charges.
He drove to the police station parking lot? He sounds more mentally handicapped than physically handicapped.

I agree with Sunfire. You’d HAVE to be 5150 to think you could outrun the cops in a wheelchair.
