TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Kansas legislators gave final approval Saturday to a bill that would nullify city and county gun restrictions and ensure that it’s legal across the state to openly carry firearms, a measure the National Rifle Association sees as a nationwide model for stripping local officials of their gun-regulating power.

The House approved the legislation, 102-19, a day after the Senate passed it, 37-2. The measure goes next to Republican Gov. Sam Brownback. In Lake Central High School in St. John, Indiana students staged a sit-in over the school’s failure to acknowledge a student’s suicide. Of note is the fact the principle responds to their protest by saying he’s “in charge” and ordering everyone to get out their IDs, basically acting like a two-bit thug cop. Pennsylvania authorities are investigating Thursday as to why an unmanned drone crash landed near a Pennsylvania elementary school.

The Lebanon Daily News identified the 375-pound drone as a RQ-7 Shadow, operated by the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. Philadelphia police are looking for several suspects in what appears to be a case of rat retaliation.

They said they were treated like criminals in their own home. Police entered the residence a week ago because the front door was open. The grievous shooting at Fort Hood Wednesday claimed three innocent lives and left 16 wounded—the deaths occurred in a gun-free zone due to former president Clinton’s 1993 policy to disarm soldiers on military bases.

UPS is firing 250 Queens, N.Y., drivers for walking off the job during a 90-minute protest in February.
