That nurse in Maine sure does love the spotlight.

After Kacie Hickox returned from Sierra Leone, where she was treating Ebola patients, she was outraged when she was put in isolation by the state of New Jersey.  After railing about her civil rights, she was then transferred to her home in Maine, where she was asked to remain home for the remainder of the 21 day incubation period.

Well, you can’t tell Kacie Hickox what to do. No sir. She knows her rights.   Continue reading “We Prep for Ebola Because of Irresponsible People Like Kacie Hickox”

What NOT to Eat for a Good Immune SystemThe Organic Prepper

Tis the season for the flu shot propaganda machine to rev into high gear, as Big Pharma, the CDC, and the mainstream media urge people to roll up their sleeves and have toxins like mercury and formaldehyde injected into them, all in the name of “staying healthy this winter.”

There’s a much easier way to stay healthy that also involves toxins – the ones in our food supply. Only I recommend avoiding them instead of injecting them directly into your body.   Continue reading “Boosting Your Immune System: What NOT to Eat”

F-Bombs-for-feminismThe Organic Prepper

Yeah, I said it. Right there in the headline. I figure if grown women can encourage children to drop f-bombs on video for their “cause” then it’s only reasonable to respond to them in a language they can understand. (I deeply apologize to readers who are offended by this, but please bear with me – there’s a reason for it.)

Are you offended? I’m offended too. And horrified. And irate. And yearning to take those little girls back to my house and just let them be little girls, for crying out loud.  While these children should be having tea parties, catching lightning bugs, and playing on the swingset, they’ve been pimped out to make a point.   Continue reading “F*ck Feminists Who Pimp Little Girls to Promote an Agenda”

A woman in Rochester, New York recently exercised her Constitutional right to be a jerk.

Kimberly Edson photographed a man who exercised his own Constitutional right – the right to bear arms.  She placed the photo on a poster in her front yard, “warning” the other parents: “This man carries a loaded gun around your children every day.”

Chilling photo, isn’t it? (Please, note my sarcasm.)   Continue reading “The Right to Bear Arms vs. The Right to be Hysterical About It”

The National Institute of Health has placed a massive order for protective clothing and supplies that could make it impossible for you to procure your own gear.

And by massive, I mean a year’s supply for employees of facilities across the country, replenished throughout the year no matter what happens, and taking priority over any personal orders.    Continue reading “Warning: A Massive Government Solicitation Could Cause a Shortage of Protective Clothing, Gloves, Masks”

The news came out this morning that the second American nurse diagnosed with Ebola flew on a plane with 132 other passengers from Cleveland, Ohio to Dallas, Texas.  Amber Vinson had a low-grade fever when she boarded the plane, and was admitted to Texas Presbyterian Hospital just hours after disembarking.

The latest horror?

Not only were 132 people who flew with Vinson exposed to Ebola.    Continue reading “The “”Ebola Plane” Made Five More Flights Before It Was Grounded”

Liberia EbolaABC News – by JONATHAN PAYE-LAYLEH

Liberia’s United Nations peacekeeping mission has placed 41 staff members, including 20 military personnel, under “close medical observation” after an international member of its medical team was diagnosed with Ebola this week — the second mission member to test positive for the deadly disease.

“This measure is precautionary and meant to ensure no possible further transmission of the disease,” the mission said in a statement Friday. “None of the personnel who are contacts have shown any symptoms but will be observed for the full 21-day possible incubation period.”   Continue reading “Liberia: 41 UN Staffers Under Ebola Observation”

How to be a prepperThe Organic Prepper

Did you ever think about dipping your big toe into the waters of “prepping” but it just all sounded so “out there” that you weren’t quite sure it was something you wanted to be involved in? Then this is the guide for you.

Maybe it made sense in principle, but then you watched that guy and his wife filter and drink their own pee on Doomsday Preppers and you said, “Oh, heck no.”   Continue reading “How to be a Prepper…But Not One of Those Crazy Ones”

A man in Texas who is thought to be infected with Ebola may be taken into custody against his will.  Is this the beginning of medical martial law, or is this a common sense practice to prevent the spread of a deadly disease?

Thus far, due to medical privacy laws, the man is unnamed.

Here’s an excerpt from yesterday’s Courthouse News Service:   Continue reading “Ebola: The Fine Line Between Medical Martial Law and Common Sense”

Enterovirus_D68_photoThe Organic Prepper

The headlines are full of news about Ebola, and there’s a very valid reason for that. The illness presents in a gruesome, bloody fashion best suited for a horror movie.  But while America’s attention is on a disease in which there is only ONE confirmed case in the country, there have been 538 cases of Enterovirus D68, 5 deaths, and 10 cases of paralysis.

The enterovirus is an illness that is passed on like the flu or the common cold, and there are millions of cases per year, according to CDC estimates. However, there are hundreds of strains and this one – EV-D68 – is incredibly virulent.   Continue reading “Are We Worrying About the Wrong Virus?”

talking to your kids about ebolaThe Organic Prepper

You can’t turn on the television or radio lately without hearing a breathless report about Ebola.  Since most of our kids don’t live in bubbles, they’ve been hearing the same things you are.  If you’re worried, concerned, or downright afraid, can you imagine how a child must feel? To allay that fear, it might be time for an age-appropriate talk with them about Ebola.

I’ve always been of the opinion that if my child is old enough to ask the question, they are old enough to receive an age-appropriate answer. When my daughters were small, I’d filter the answer down to one sentence. If they were satisfied with that, I left it alone. If they asked further questions, I went into more detail. They know how much information they can handle, and I feel like, as parents, we are obligated to teach them. When they asked things I didn’t know the answer too, we always looked it up, which I felt was another teachable moment: the answers are there if you know where to look.   Continue reading “Talking to Your Kids About Ebola”

prep for ebolaThe Daily Sheeple

It’s true. A case of Ebola has been confirmed in the United States.  And this could just be the beginning, because it looks like there may already be a second case in Dallas right now.

Those of us in the preparedness community know exactly how serious this could be.  We’ve read about pandemics and civil unrest and all sorts of Armageddon scenarios. With that much unsettling information in our mental reserves, the diagnosis of that man in Texas took on a different meaning to us than it did to the Americans who may have vaguely heard something about it while flipping channels on the television, between MTV and Dancing with the Stars.   Continue reading “Here’s Why You Should NOT Panic Over Ebola”

The one simple secret to surviving any disasterThe Organic Prepper

When disaster strikes, will you be ready? Will you be organized, calm, and ready to adapt to whatever the situation brings? Sometimes we have some warning, and sometimes things happen out of the blue. There is one simple secret that will allow you to sail through nearly any crisis. It doesn’t cost a lot of money, or take up an entire roomful of storage space.

It’s your ability to accept the scenario.

The more time you spend denying that this could ever happen to you, happen in your home town, or occur at all, the less time you have to take definitive action. In fact, your willingness to accept that disaster could strike before it ever does puts you even further ahead, because you’ll be ready for immediate action without wasting valuable time wrapping your brain around it.   Continue reading “The One Simple Secret to Surviving Any Crisis”

The only way to be ready for anything is to be ready for anythingThe Organic Prepper

Most of the time, no one actually expects the S to HTF on that particular day.

Most folks don’t go through their lives expecting one specific event to occur, and then have it unfold according to a predetermined script.

Two weeks ago, I didn’t get up in the morning expecting some jerk to get mad at his girlfriend, light a tree in her yard on fire, and set off a 100,000 acre forest fire. But he did.   Continue reading “Prepping: The Only Way to be Ready for Anything is to be Ready for Anything”

For eleven days now, forest fires have raged around us. Worsened by the drought on the West Coast, a seemingly unquenchable inferno is eating up the trees, the brush, and anything that gets in its way. It’s like the fire is a living thing, one that wants to get free and consume everything.

I’m rarely forthcoming about even our general location, for the obvious privacy reasons, but I want to share what it’s like for a real family – mine – to live on the brink of disaster for an extended period of time.   Continue reading “The King Fire Chronicles: Life on the Edge of a Natural Disaster”

Winter is coming. Prep your vehicle for emergencies. The Organic Prepper

“Still … in this world only winter is certain.”
― George R.R. Martin, A Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire)

If you happen to be a Game of Thrones fan, you know the Stark Family motto: “Winter is coming.”  It’s inevitable and sometimes dangerous. According to all predictions, this winter will be a repeat of last year, or perhaps even worse.  Most of the country can expect extreme cold, an abundance of snow, and a longer-than-normal winter. It may be only September, but that first storm of the year can sneak up on you. Now is the time to double check your preparations and be certain that you are ready for anything, well before the first snowflake falls.   Continue reading “Winter is Coming: Getting Your Vehicle Prepped for Emergencies”

Ship from AfricaThe Organic Prepper

When a ship from an Ebola-plagued nation docks on American shores with a crew full of sick passengers, by all means, we should bring them into the country and treat them.

But don’t worry – the CDC figured it was probably fine.

According to a release from the CDC, the ship was reported to have traveled to a port in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and others in Africa. Officials immediately downplayed the likelihood that the sickness was related to an outbreak of Ebola in that part of the world. We can all breathe a sigh of relief. The FDA has announced that the flu vaccine for the 2014-2015 flu season is ready.

This means you can drive down nearly any city street and see at least one flag or spinner, manically suggesting that you “Get your flu shot here!”

This means you can now saunter into your local pharmacy and be injected at low cost by a person with no real medical training, without a prescription.   Continue reading “How to Reduce Your Risk of Catching the Flu This Year”

American-Flag-ArmyThe Organic Prepper – by Daisy Luther

Last week, Dave Hodges wrote an article called The Psychological Reasons Why American Soldiers Would Fire On American Citizens.  Mr. Hodges used experiments by behavioral scientists to support his hypothesis. His evidence was the Asch experiment, the Milgram experiment, and the Stanford prison experiment. All of the experiments proved one thing: under certain circumstances, people would perform acts of cruelty that were aberrant to their normal behavior.

Let me preface my argument by saying that Dave Hodges puts out some great information – none of this is a personal attack on him or his work.  This is a rebuttal to a specific article he has written.    Continue reading “Rebuttal: Here’s Why I Do NOT Believe American Soldiers Will Fire on Protesting American Citizens”
