I can’t be the only one wondering what the heck is going on with our food system lately. The recalls on commonly consumed foods have been so numerous that it seems like there’s another one every other day.
The contamination of our food supply is very unsettling. This year hundreds of people were sickened by romaine lettuce contaminated with E. coli and several even died. Kansas City, Missouri Health Department made a national splash when their staff literally poured bleach on food intended for homeless people earlier this month. A coalition of friends called Free Hot Soup (FHS) Kansas City had formed picnic-style food gatherings to provide hot meals for homeless people, and all went according to plan until officials trashed the food and doused it in bleach to render it inedible. Last night, I walked across the street and introduced myself to the cop sitting in the car across from my house.
Every couple of nights for the past two weeks, I noticed a police car parking there at about 11 at night. The car would sit there for a while, then turn around in my driveway and leave.
