The Organic Prepper

I know it isn’t just me.

Every prepper I know loves a good disaster movie.  Heck, it doesn’t even have to be that good for some of us to watch them.  We just enjoy sitting back and watching a fictional disaster unfold so that we can strategize how we would handle it, mock the hero for his or her poor decisions (you know, those dumb moves that a prepper would never make), and feel absolutely justified with regard to our lifestyle choices.   Continue reading “50 Flicks for Prepper Movie Night”

The days of having a fully (or even mostly) private life are long gone, it seems, and social media is largely to blame.

Even if you have deactivated all of your social media accounts – or never had any in the first place – your privacy is not guaranteed.   Continue reading “Here’s How YOU Can Be Profiled Even If You’ve NEVER Used Social Media”

There have been a lot of things going on lately. The massive demonstrations in support to our Constitutional president Juan Guaido have unchained a LOT of repression and retaliation by those trying to avoid the dismemberment of the last stronghold of the Maduro and Castro gangs.

This is inevitable though. The suffering has been unbelievable and the cost in human lives, too high for those responsible to achieve some kind of agreement.   Continue reading “The Truth About What’s Happening In Venezuela Right Now Is NOT What the Media Is Reporting”

Over the past few months, my husband and I have kept an eye on the store shelves in our area. We don’t shop daily or even weekly, but the trend of increasingly bare shelves has been incredibly disturbing. This made me curious as to what others have been experiencing. As a member of various online prepping communities, I see a lot of conversations and concerns, but one thing that has stood out to me is the amazing number of people chiming in to report sparse or bare shelves or just not being able to find a specific item they like.   Continue reading “Why Are We Seeing So Many Bare Shelves at Grocery Stores Across the Country?”

The importance of music has been clear in our culture for a very long time. Music has the following powers.

Yet another recall has hit the shelves of a store near you. This time, it’s something really surprising. It’s fresh fruit.

The FDA has announced that peaches, nectarines, and plums sold in more than a dozen states could potentially be tainted with Listeria monocytogenes. Jac. Vandenberg, Inc. of Yonkers, New York has recalled 1,727 cartons of peaches, 1,207 cartons of nectarines and 365 cartons of plums.   Continue reading “RECALL: Peaches, Plums, and Nectarines Could Be Tainted with Listeria”

We’ve had all sorts of articles on this website about technology run amok, like videos that are undiscernable from reality and doorbells that monitor the entire neighborhood and China mining data from the brains of workers. But this one takes the creepy sci-fact cake.

According to MIT, there now exists technology that can beam a voice right into your head from a distance.   Continue reading “This Technology from MIT Can Beam a Voice Right Into Your Head”

In these days of tight budgets and arctic blasts, staying warm without spending several hundred dollars a month on utilities is a major point of concern. Luckily, there are all sorts of low-tech ways to stay warm using less heat.

Not many people can afford an astronomical heat bill and the prices of utilities are only going up from here. We’ll need to use other methods for staying warm aside from cranking up the thermostat if we want to stay cozy without going broke.   Continue reading “20 Low-Tech Ways to Stay Warm with Less Heat”

Feeding your family when you’re flat broke isn’t easy but it can be done.  What would you do if you suddenly need to prepare for a lean month ahead on a tight budget? Imagine you only had $400 or so to purchase all food and essentials for your whole family for a month. How would you cover the necessities?

This is a question on a lot of people’s minds right now. Most – if not all – states are paying out February’s SNAP food benefits early to make sure that folks have something to eat during the month ahead. As well, as the government shutdown continues, 800,000 federal employees will also continue to be without a paycheck.   Continue reading “How to Feed Your Family When You’re Flat Broke”

When planned obsolescence goes too far, the people of the Right to Repair want the right to…repair things.  They aren’t fighting back with pitchforks and torches, but rather, screwdrivers and torch lights.

As a prepper, having supplies that last and are able to be repaired can only be a good thing. And part of the reasons it’s so difficult to reduce our consumerism is that everything just keeps breaking on us.   Continue reading “The “Right to Repair” Movement Is Fighting Planned Obsolescence”

Something is happening to oranges. The solution may be worse than the problem and there’s about to be a lot more solution.

Oranges are cast as the pinnacle of American wholesomeness. Orange juice is a marketing empire in its own right. The “OJ” industry has successfully made its product synonymous with life-giving vitamin C and a complete breakfast. But is that really the case?  Continue reading “You Don’t Want to Know What They Do to Oranges (And It’s About to Get Even Worse)”

We weren’t expecting to see a loss of food stamp benefits until the end of January, but a grocery store in Indiana reported they are unable to process EBT payments.

In Clay City, Indiana, the local IGA discovered the problem last week. Initially, they thought it was a technical glitch.  Continue reading “It’s STARTING: A Grocery Store in Indiana Can’t Process Food Stamp Payments Due to Govt. Shutdown”

Dozens of blood pressure medicines have been recalled. The medications, containing an ingredient used to make rocket fuel, are the latest in the recent mass blood pressure drug exodus.

The recent recall that follows months of blood pressure drug recalls may be an ominous sign for modern medicine as the blood pressure and stroke medications are manufactured in China, notorious for its pollution. Two-thirds of the ingredients from the drugs originate in China, whereas the other third comes from India.  Continue reading “Blood Pressure Meds Made in China and India Recalled for Containing Ingredient Used to Make Rocket Fuel”

A clinical trial called “Ambrosia” seeks to discover the long-sought Fountain of Youth – and some scientists believe they’ve found it in the blood of young people.

Unlike most clinical trials, people actually paid to participate instead of the other way around. Patients over the age of 35 ponied up $8000 to take part in the experiment where they get transfusions of young blood, run by Dr. Jesse Karmazin.   Continue reading “Vampire Science Believes “YOUNG BLOOD” Is the REAL Fountain of Youth”

In this world, there are two kinds of people. You can be a consumer or you can be a producer.

Neither one is inherently good or bad – these are just descriptive terms. You can produce 100% of your own food and have a terrible heart, one that rejoices in the misfortune of others. You can never produce a single thing in your whole life and be kind and generous. This article isn’t meant to demonize consumers or set producers up on a pedestal.   Continue reading “How to Be a Producer In a Nation of Consumers”

Note from Daisy: It’s the Christmas season and that means it’s time for Washington, DC to try and sneak some draconian measures past us. James Wesley Rawles posted the following article on his website, Survival Blog, on Christmas Day, outlining how the new bill, the 3D Firearms Prohibitions Act, will infringe on our rights in at least 8 different ways. (And if you think this will ONLY affect those with a 3D printer, you’re quite mistaken.)   Continue reading “This New Gun Bill Is Unconstitutional In at Least 8 Different Ways”
