Arizona Sen. John McCain, a war hero who survived five years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam, served three decades in Congress and went on to become the Republican Party’s nominee for president in 2008, died Saturday. He was 81 years old.

The monthlong search for Mollie Tibbetts came to a tragic end this week when investigators located the 20-year-old’s body in a cornfield near her hometown of Brooklyn, Iowa. Tibbetts, who was set to start her sophomore year at the University of Iowa this week, was dogsitting for her boyfriend at the time of her disappearance and was last seen jogging on the evening of July 18. FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Following a string of Apple store robberies throughout the state, shoppers in Southern California finally said enough is enough and tackled two men caught in the act near the Apple store in Thousand Oaks over the weekend.

CARACAS, Venezuela — A powerful earthquake has shaken eastern Venezuela, causing buildings to be evacuated in the capital of Caracas.

Nine planes were forced to make emergency changes to their routes within Chilean, Argentine and Peruvian airspace on Thursday because of bomb threats issued to Chile’s civil aviation authority, its director general told journalists.

Panic ensued Thursday evening in the French city of Montpellier after a women in North African garb began screaming in Arabic as her garment became trapped in a shopping mall escalator.
Local media report that the startled woman’s cries set off a chain reaction which saw shoppers flee towards the exits of the southern beach city’s Polygone Shopping complex, believing a jihadist attack to be underway.
