On Wednesday, President Donald Trump may announce U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital while continuing to keep the U.S. embassy in in Tel Aviv. The move goes toward fulfilling his campaign promise, during a speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), to move the embassy to Jerusalem.

It’s still uncertain if Trump will go through with this plan, but the pressure on Trump goes deeper than a promise to voters. His biggest campaign contributor, billionaire casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, is showing growing impatience with Trump’s slowness in moving the embassy, which would be a provocation to Palestinians who claim Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state. In December 2016 the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution reaffirming that Israel’s Jewish settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) are illegal and calling on Israel to stop settlement activities in the OPT. Resolution 2334 says the settlements have “no legal validity,” calls them “a flagrant violation under international law,” and demands Israel “immediately and completely cease all settlement activities.”

Senate judiciary chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley today introduced a far-reaching GOP plan for reforming the nation’s immigration laws — but two of his Senate GOP allies immediately split off to offer Democrats a bigger amnesty and a smaller cutback in chain-migration.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — U.S. authorities on Tuesday charged a Mexican man with new immigration and gun violations less than a week after a San Francisco jury acquitted him of murder for the shooting death of Kate Steinle, a case that helped fuel a fierce national debate on immigration.

Republican Congressman John Katko was reportedly threatened with murder by a New York man if he did not support net neutrality.

Democrat & Chronicle reports that Patrick D. Angelo of Syracuse, New York, was arrested and charged with threatening a federal official after he allegedly threatened to kill U.S. Congressman John Katko, R-NY if he did not support net neutrality. A petition has been launched in Cologne, Germany asking the regional public broadcaster WDR to drop support for former Pink Floyd frontman Rogers Waters’ upcoming “Us + Them” concert on the grounds of his previous expressions of anti-Semitism.

“I do not want to resign myself to the new hatred of Jews here, I’m sick of it,” said Malca Goldstein-Wolf in an interview with newspaper Bild.
