BERLIN — Germany’s foreign intelligence agency believes Saudi Arabia’s ambitious defense minister could endanger the Gulf kingdom’s ties with regional allies by attempting to cement his place in the royal succession, according to a memo released Wednesday.

BOSTON (JTA) – The Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority approved the display of an anti-Israel ad it had previously rejected.
The poster, which features a large photograph of a child and the word “violence” in large, bold letters, accuses Israel’s military of using U.S. tax dollars to kill 2,000 Palestinian children since September 2000, and calls for the end of U.S. military aid to Israel. Trenton, NJ — Last month, 51-year-old police officer Michael Roadside was suspended without pay after he crashed into a woman’s car while he was drunk and offered to bribe her so she wouldn’t report the accident.
The driver of the car, Kimberly Wilson, was horrified by her encounter with Roadside and declined the offer and called 911 instead. According to a statement that Wilson made to police, Roadside hit her vehicle while she was stopped at a stop sign. She said that he emerged from his car “disheveled,” asking her not to call 911 and saying that he would give her $1,000 if she did not report the incident. Following the tragic terrorist attacks in Paris, France, much of the global media debate has been centered around immigration, with many people suggesting that the recent wave of refugees into Europe from the Middle East is responsible for the violence. However, all of the attackers who’ve had their identities confirmed thus far, are actually EU citizens.
While it was widely reported that passports of foreign nationals were found, one of those passports belonged to an Egyptian victim, while the other passport, alleged to be Syrian, was actually fake. Oregon lawmakers say the Confederate emblem on the Mississippi state flag must go and are pushing to have the flag removed from a park near the state Capitol in Salem.
The flag’s “symbol of racist intolerance” is in “direct conflict with Oregon values of fairness and equality,” Oregon House Speaker Tina Kotek, D-Portland, told The Oregonian. Continue reading “Oregon to Mississippi: Change the state flag”
A crowd of onlookers who witnessed a woman crash her car Thursday afternoon, issued a bizarre request to the police officer who responded to the scene: “shoot her @ss!”
The woman was apparently suffering from mental illness of some sort. Little is known about her background or health issues and history of episodes at this point.

In disturbing images posted online, Harper-Mercer, who was born in England and moved to the States at a young age, posed with guns and shared pro-IRA newspaper front pages, an Express.co.uk investigation has found.

Beulah Montgomery, had just turned 60 the day before, when she was approached by 7 young punks playing Knock Out. One of them hit her and a second was attempting to hit her, so she reached for her gun. She fired 5 times and two of the young men fell down dead. One was hit in the stomach and one in the chest. The other five ran off after finding out their elderly victim was less than helpless. Montgomery had been mugged before and started carrying a gun for protection. The move paid off. Speaker John Boehner, who rose from bartender’s son to the most powerful man in Congress, will retire at the end of October, ending a tumultuous five-year tenure atop the House of Representatives.

Officials at a Department of Veterans Affairs medical center in Colorado want the Confederate battle flag completely removed from a mural.
The Grand Junction medical facility features a mural of the Civil War painted by 72-year-old artist Lee Bowerman and shows a Confederate and Union soldier staring each other down. Bowerman thinks the decision to remove the flag is unfortunate, but has agreed to do as officials ask. In the meantime, officials have placed a banner to cover part of the display until Bowerman has time to finish the job and remove the offensive elements. Ahh, Common Core math. Now implemented in 46 states, the controversial standards have had parents crossing their eyes in confusion and frustration since the day it was introduced.

To comply with the 2005 Real ID Act, which the U.S. government has been slowly implementing for the past decade, citizens in a number of different U.S. states will now be forced to obtain a passport if they want to board an airplane — even for domestic flights.
The Department of Homeland Security and representatives with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection have declined to comment on why certain states have been singled out, but starting in 2016, residents of New York, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and American Samoa will need a passport to fly domestically. All other states will still be able to use their state-issued driver’s licenses and IDs — for now, at least. On September 17, Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) told an audience at a Harlem breakfast that New York’s surging gun violence was not his fault or proof of the failure of gun control, but was the fault of states “down south.”

This past week Jeb Bush was a guest on The Late Show with new host Stephen Colbert when Bush said something that some conservative voters might find shocking.

If she were anything other than a member of the LGBT community, Jennifer Cramblett would be branded as a racist. But as she is a lesbian, the Washington Post matter-of-factly writes that Cramblett, who is white, sued Midwest Sperm Bank in 2014 for artificially inseminating her with sperm from the wrong donor, which resulted in her giving birth to a mixed-race daughter. The donor, as she discovered only after her daughter was born in 2011, was a black man.
