On February 23, 2018, during a radio interview with Hugh Hewitt, Stanford U. political science professor and President George W. Bush’s secretary of state Condoleezza Rice said:
“I think it is time to have a conversation about what the right to bear arms means in the modern world. I don’t understand why civilians need to have access to military weapons. We wouldn’t say you can go out and buy a tank.”
OSWEGO, Ill. — A man armed with an AR-15 rifle stopped an attack by one of his neighbors and held him until police arrived.
It happened Monday at an apartment building on Harbor Drive in Oswego Township.

The Broward County Sheriff’s office announced that Deputy Scot Peterson resigned after being suspended for not engaging the shooter at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. He had been making over $75,000 a year as the school’s Student Resource Office, a position he had held since 2009.
While the report of Deputy Peterson’s inaction has understandable resulted in public outrage and disgust, it’s important to note that the Supreme Court has found that government police officers are under no obligation to actually protect the public.

President Trump confirmed on Friday that he would support stricter firearms regulations, including a proposal to strengthen the federal background check system and raising the minimum age for buying a semi-automatic weapon to 21 – something the powerful National Rifle Association has said it opposes.
Trump also reiterated his support for training members of school staffs to carry concealed weapons:
“A teacher would have shot the hell out of him before he knew what happened,”

CHICAGO — Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said President Donald Trump’s idea to arm teachers is “upside down and inside out.”

Scientific research on the human brain has yielded some very interesting results. According to the world’s foremost experts on the subject, they have made significant progress on the road to understanding human memories. Soon, they expect to be able to not only understand human memories fully but also to manipulate them at will.
Today’s technology is slowly making it possible. And scientists are beginning to realize that, by combining a few different methods, they could come up with radical new solutions to the problem of how to better understand the brain when it comes to handling memories — how they’re made, where they’re stored, and how they could be changed in the event that it becomes necessary. Over the past week, I’ve been watching the History Channel’s America’s War on Drugsmini docu-series. To my surprise, the History Channel was shockingly honest about the CIA’s involvement in the war on drugs and the massive political propaganda campaigns that went along with it. The series criminalized the CIA and the government, and rightly so, discussing their involvement in drug trafficking, production, and testing — on both volunteers and unwilling patients — and even murder.
Part of the first episode honed in on the CIA’s top-secret program that is now declassified, MK-Ultra, which involved sexual and physical abuse, drug testing, hypnosis, mind control, and other types of torture. However, the only aspect that the History Channel discussed in their MK Ultra overview was the role that LSD played. Journalist Lee Stranahan reports that Carter Page, the subject of the FISA wiretap warrant, was an FBI employee from 2013 to 2016 who targeted the Russians prior to joining the Trump campaign. Therefore, when the FBI obtained the FISA warrant against Page, it was aware that he was not a Russian agent. -GEG

A candidate for the West Virginia House of Delegates was dragged out of a hearing after listing the donations received by state lawmakers from fossil fuel companies. She was testifying on a bill on oil and gas drilling rules.
Lissa Lucas was criticizing a proposed bill, HB 4268, which would allow oil and gas companies to drill on private land with the consent of just 75 percent of the landowners. Energy companies are currently required to have 100 percent approval from landowners before they can extract gas and minerals from land. As part of its most recent clampdown on Christian churches, Chinese authorities have instructed priests and pastors to post signs on churches barring entry to minors.
The instruction is part of a new set of communist party-controlled regulations on religious activities that went into effect on February 1 and is aimed at preventing children and young people from getting religious instruction or taking an active part in Christian worship.
