The White House unveiled plans Tuesday to extend the availability of higher biofuels-blended gasoline over the summer to curb soaring fuel costs and to cut reliance on foreign energy sources after the consumer price index data showed inflation at a 41-year high.

New York Lt. Gov. Brian Benjamin was arrested on Tuesday, with federal prosecutors accusing him in an indictment of “engaging in a bribery scheme using public funds for his own corrupt purposes.”

The first commercial case of bird flu in Kansas has been confirmed at a turkey farm in McPherson County.

Kansas Department of Agriculture officials say the turkey farm was placed under quarantine after workers noticed signs of bird flu, or avian influenza, among their flock. The birds will be “humanely … disposed of” to prevent the spread of the disease, the release said. BOSTON, April 12 (Reuters) – Major U.S. gun manufacturers on Tuesday are slated to urge a federal judge in Boston to dismiss a lawsuit by the Mexican government accusing them of facilitating the trafficking of weapons to drug cartels, leading to thousands of deaths in Mexico.

Lawyers for gun makers including Smith & Wesson (SWBI.O) and Sturm, Ruger & Co (RGR.N) are expected during a virtual hearing to ask U.S. District Judge F. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a health warning about an outbreak of meningococcal disease in Florida, which the agency said is mainly affecting gay and bisexual men, including those living with HIV.

The CDC urged gay and bisexual men and other men who have sex with men to get the MenACWY vaccine if they live in Florida. It also recommended that those planning to visit Florida talk with their health care provider about getting the vaccine.
