Moore, Oklahoma—A neighbor of beheading suspect Alton Nolan said the suspect is a paranoid loner. The neighbor claimed to have frequently observed Nolan driving around the streets next to the apartment complex waiting for no one to be in the parking lot before he would enter the complex and park. He said he only saw Nolan with another person one time and he would not talk to neighbors.

The retired U.S. Army military police sergeant invited Breitbart Texas into his modest apartment to talk about his now infamous neighbor he had been watching behave suspiciously for months. “Being retired,” the neighbor who asked to remain nameless said, “I’ve got nothing to do but be nosey. From the chair where I watch TV, I’ve got a great view of everyone going up and down the stairs. I know all the silhouettes of all the people who live upstairs.” Continue reading “Beheading Suspect is Paranoid Loner, Says Neighbor”

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Most of the nearly 60,000 Central American children who have arrived on the U.S.-Mexico border in the last year still don’t have lawyers to represent them in immigration court, and advocates are scrambling to train volunteer attorneys to help cope with the massive caseload.

With the number of unaccompanied immigrant children more than doubling this past fiscal year, the need for attorneys has surged, and it has been exacerbated by the immigration courts’ decision to fast-track children’s cases, holding initial hearings within a few weeks instead of months.   Continue reading “AP: Army of 800 Lawyers to Represent Immigrant Children for Free”

quarantine zonesThe Common Sense Show – by Dave Hodges

In the face of an Ebola outbreak, the government should be deploying the military at all border entry points and in airports for the purpose of establishing quarantine zones for passengers suspected of exposure to the Ebola virus. All flights, to and from Africa, should be banned from entering U.S. airspace. Instead of protecting America, this administration is sending 3,000 soldiers, untrained in dealing with Ebola outbreaks, to Africa for reasons that nobody can seemingly identify? Why? We continue to leave our southern border completely open and Ebola, in the form of a bio-terror weapon can and will be brought into the United States. Again, I ask why? The CDC owns the patent on Ebola and every strain of the virus up to 70% of the variance from the original pathogen. Continue reading “How Ebola Will Irreversibly Transform America”

In what is more proof that the NATO operation against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is merely Libya 2.0, the Obama administration is now stating that it is open to the possibility of establishing a “no-fly zone” over Syria.

The statements, made by both Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and General Martin E. Dempsey, are supposed to hinge upon an agreement with Turkey, that is itself calling for a “buffer zone,” one of the wishes of NATO since the very beginning of the Syrian crisis.   Continue reading “Libya 2.0? Update 9/26/14: Recently Apple has announced that it is providing basic encryption on mobile devices that they cannot bypass, even in response to a request from law enforcement. Google has promised to take similar steps in the near future. Predictably, law enforcement has responded with howls of alarm.

We’ve seen this movie before. Below is a slightly adapted blog post from one we posted in 2010, the last time the FBI was seriously hinting that it was going to try to mandate that all communications systems be easily wiretappable by mandating “back doors” into any encryption systems. We marshaled eight “epic failures” of regulating crypto at that time, all of which are still salient today. And in honor of the current debate, we’ve added a ninth.   Continue reading “Nine Epic Failures of Regulating Cryptography”

WASHINGTON (AP) — For nearly three months this summer, the Obama administration carefully avoided answering questions about what happened to tens of thousands of immigrant families caught illegally crossing the Mexican border and released into the United States with instructions to report back to immigration authorities.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and others said they faced deportation. But it turns out that tens of thousands of those immigrants did not follow the government’s instructions to meet with federal immigration agents within 15 days. Instead, they have vanished into the interior of the U.S.   Continue reading “US: Most new immigrant families fail to report”
