Charlotte, NC — The Charlotte police officer who killed Keith Lamont Scott will not be charged. In a news conference on Wednesday, R. Andrew Murray, the Mecklenburg County district attorney, said he was “entirely convinced” that Police Officer Brentley Vinson “was lawful in using deadly force.”

The controversial shooting of Scott in September of this year lead to a massive uprising of protesters and riots and news of the lack of charges will almost certainly bring more of the same.   Continue reading “Cop Who Shot Keith Scott on Video Will Not Be Charged”

As part of the Morton County Sheriff’s Department’s effort to quash the movement camped in opposition to construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline, national chain ACE hardware stores have been instructed by law enforcement not to sell any incendiary devices — that includes propane tanks Standing Rock Sioux water protectors partially rely on for heat in the bitter winter conditions.

In other words, law enforcement has effectively quashed the sale of potentially life-saving supplies to those encamped at Standing Rock as bitter winter conditions grip the Oceti Sakowin and other camps.   Continue reading “Sheriff’s Dept Demands ACE Hardware Stop Selling Heating Supplies to Water Protectors, ACE Complies”

One of the most popular topics within the survival and prepping community is firearms, and it seems there are as many opinions as there are people.

Although there is a great deal of disagreement on which guns and what type of ammo you should stockpile, there are a few calibers that frequently enter most conversations. Two that come to mind are the .22 rifle and the 12-gauge shotgun.   Continue reading “The Silent .22 Round That’s Quieter Than A BB Gun”

A Baptist college in Alabama has blocked the formation of a Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) chapter, in part because the group’s founding document is too aggressively anti-communist.

Students at Samford University have been petitioning to have their new YAF chapter recognized by the school, but found their statement of purpose is an obstacle to recognition.   Continue reading “College Blocks Formation Of Conservative Group For Being Too Anti-Communist”

A pipeline explosion that caused a large fire in Platte County, just north of Kansas City, on Tuesday evening, clearly revealed exactly why the water protectors at Standing Rock are standing up against the Dakota Access Pipeline.

After what many described as a long-shot effort by Democratic representative Tim Ryan of Ohio to unseat Nancy Pelosi as House minority leader, the results of the Democrat secret ballots are in and reveal that, indeed, he fell well short.  Alas, it seems as though only 63 House Democrats learned anything from the 2016 Presidential election cycle.   Continue reading “Nancy Pelosi Retains House Minority Leadership Position”

If you want to buy a gun from a federally licensed dealer, you have to fill out Form 4473, which is aimed at determining whether you are legally allowed to own a firearm. A recent revision to the form by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) underlines how blithely the federal government strips Americans of their Second Amendment rights.   Continue reading “The Cannabis Exception to the Second Amendment”

Congress will vote today on a nearly 1,000-page bill that holds drastic changes for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). If the bill is approved, it would speed up the approval of new drugs and medical devices. The House has been heavily criticized for allegedly rushing piece of legislation through without sufficient scrutiny. [1]

The legislation, dubbed the 21st Century Cures Act, sets aside $6.3 billion for biomedical research, opioid abuse prevention, and support for the FDA, which oversees the safety of drugs. Multiple provisions are contained in the bill that are designed to loosen the requirements for drugmakers seeking approval from the agency to market their products.  Continue reading “Congress Prepares To Vote On Bill That Would Speed Up Drug Approval”
