Survival FishingPreparing for SHTF

All fresh water fish found in the United States is considered edible, which means there are no known species with poisonous flesh. With that being said however, certain toxins in the water such as mercury can be present in the flesh, which of course, can pose a health risk.

Others things to be concerned with are the needle like barbs on the dorsal fins of catfish/bullhead species. The wound created by the barbs is likened to a bee sting or other insect bites, and they can become infected if not treated.   Continue reading “Survival Fishing: Various Techniques”

It has been a bloody and bitter fight in the north up onto high ground unlike the rolling terrain that the Israelis faced in their lightning advance earlier in the week against the forces of the United Arab Republic and Jordan.

The fighting ended at 6:30 P.M. Israeli time with the acceptance by both sides of the cease-fire demanded by the United Nations Security Council.   Continue reading “On this day 1967: Cease-Fire in Syria Accepted; Israelis Hold Border Heights; Soviet Breaks Ties to Israel”

Americans that oppose illegal immigration have been called racist and unsympathetic?  Liberals have even gone out of their way to remove the word “illegal” and replace it with “undocumented.” They demand those here illegally receive the same benefits as Americans.  However, how does Mexico treat those entering their country illegally?

According to Mexico’s immigration laws, every article of law controls illegal immigration into Mexican territory.  If you immigrate to Mexico, Article 32 states you must speak Spanish and must be a professional who is useful to the Mexican society.  There are no bilingual programs in the school and no pressing 2 for English.  All business must be conducted in Spanish.    Continue reading “What is Mexico’s Immigration Law?”

“You have meddled with the primal forces of nature, Mr. Beale, and I won’t have it!! Is that clear?!… You are an old man who thinks in terms of nations and peoples. There are no nations. There are no peoples. There are no Russians. There are no Arabs. There are no third worlds. There is no West. There is only one holistic system of systems, one vast and immane, interwoven, interacting, multivariate, multinational dominion of dollars. Petro-dollars, electro-dollars, multi-dollars, reichmarks, rins, rubles, pounds, and shekels. It is the international system of currency which determines the totality of life on this planet. That is the natural order of things today. That is the atomic and subatomic and galactic structure of things today! And YOU have meddled with the primal forces of nature, and YOU WILL ATONE!” (Arthur Jensen, to Howard Beale, “Network,” 1976)   Continue reading “Network: the last great film about media”

In new comments on the BBC, British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond claimed “worrying signs” about Russia’s military activity in Eastern Europe, and claimed Russian President Putin was considering new military invasions in the region.

Hammond then expressed openness to the idea of the Pentagon scrapping a decades-old arms treaty with Russia and deploying a number of nuclear weapons on British soil, saying he needed to see a more detailed case before making a decision, but that it was worth considering.   Continue reading “British Foreign Secretary: US Nukes Could Be Stationed in Britain to Target Russia”

Americans garden for many reasons. For some, it’s pleasant to get some fresh air after a long day in the office. Others do it for aesthetic pleasure. However, for those striving for self-reliance on their off-the-grid homestead, gardening is an essential component in the family’s food production operation. In many cases, both time and space limit the size of a garden.

To address those seeking to grow a large portion of their own food on limited resources, author and organic plant breeder Carol Deppe has written an informative book, The Resilient Gardener: Food Production and Self-Reliance in Uncertain Times.   Continue reading “The 5 Most Important Crops You Need For Survival”

elderly man windowThe Guardian – by Steven W Thrasher

You’re never too old to be killed by an interaction with a police officer in the United States: though the Guardian’s analysis of every police killing in 2015 to date found that the average age of people killed by police is 37, some 20 people killed this year have been in their 60s, seven in their 70s, and two in their 80s – about six elderly people a month.

The circumstances behind the killing of elder citizens by police mirror the many reasons why Americans of all ages (some 473 in total this year as of the time this was published) are killed by police.   Continue reading “Imagine: you call the police to check on your grandfather, and they shoot him”

Gunwatch – by Dean Weingarten

A gun turn in (buy back) event was held in San Jose, California, on the 6th of June, 2015.   The number of firearms turned in was meager for such a large population center, with one fourth turned in by one person.  There are no photographs of the firearms turned in available yet, but it is highly probable that the 47 firearms turned in by one person were the collection of a family member who died.  That is a common source of guns turned in at these events.  From mercurynews.com :   Continue reading “CA: San Jose Gun Turn in (Buy back) gets 47 from one person”

Alcohol StillPreparing for SHTF

First a little background, a chemistry lesson if you will, before we get started. Ethyl alcohol or grain alcohol is also known as ethanol or even better known as “drinking alcohol”. Its chemical compound is C2H5OH, and it is produced by fermentation.

Ethanol is, different from Isopropyl alcohol (C3H80), which is more commonly known as rubbing alcohol. Do not confuse the two. Both are produced by the fermentation process however, the fermenting agent for isopropyl is a bacterium while, ethyl uses a yeast.   Continue reading “10 Survival Uses for Alcohol”
