Joseph CallahanFreedom Outpost – by Tim Brown

Connecticut Police raided the home of Joseph Callahan, 69, confiscated more than 270 guns and he was charged with several felonies, including 11 counts of illegal possession of explosives and six counts of first-degree reckless endangerment. Was Callahan really endangering anyone or planning some sort of terrorist attack? No, he was not.

According to Callahan’s attorney, Richard Meehan, he is just a collector, a gun aficionado, and a hoarder. Meehan also claims that Callahan is a retired chemist and collector who had no “nefarious intent” when items were discovered at his upscale Fairfield home.   Continue reading “Connecticut Man Joseph Callahan Arrested for Having ‘Too Many’ Guns & Model Rockets”

Rather than you watching television, it is they who are watching you! Verizon has recently patented a cable DVR box that will use audio and video to record and analyze what’s going on in your living room so that they can provide targeted ads in real time on the TV to suit what’s going on. Now, one reason may be advertising and marketing, but since they can listen and watch, just think, smile you may be on candid camera!  Continue reading “Cameras in Your Cable Box Watching You in Your Home Watching Television”

During Wednesday’s congressional testimony, a heated exchange occurred between Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC) and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius over one of the still-unexploded controversies in the ObamaCare law: the fact that ObamaCare’s so-called “robust” coverage is in reality your government forcing you to pay for coverage that includes expensive services millions will never need. Ellmers called Sebelius out specifically for forcing men to buy maternity coverage.   Continue reading “Sebelius: ‘Men Often Do Need Maternity Care’”

North Carolina police are refusing to release video footage and other evidence that could shed light on an unarmed man’s death at the hands of an officer.

According to Chris Chestnut, the lawyer representing the unarmed man’s family, the police department’s unwillingness to release the footage recorded by a police cruiser’s dash cam casts doubt on the integrity of an ongoing investigation.   Continue reading “North Carolina police refuse to release video of cops shooting unarmed man”

It’s hard to decide which is scarier: a grinning “Barack Obama” wearing a straightjacket or the reaction to his appearance at one company’s annual Halloween costume party.

An employee of Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, Ky., must have thought he had the costume contest all sewn up when he sauntered into the party wearing an Obama mask and a straightjacket.   Continue reading “‘Obama’ Wears Straight Jacket, Crowd Goes Insane”

The same police officer who shot and killed a young teen after mistaking a toy gun for a real one pulled his weapon on a motorist during a routine traffic stop on the highway two months ago, the California driver in question now says.

Sonoma County Sheriff’s Deputy Erick Gelhaus is currently on paid administrative leave after fatally shooting 13-year-old Andy Lopez, who was walking to a friend’s house with a replica AK-47. The tragedy has made international headlines and frustrated the local community, with vigils and protests against the police taking place over the past ten days.   Continue reading “Officer who fatally shot 13-year-old holding toy rifle had pulled gun during routine traffic stop”

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee and one of the NSA’s biggest defenders, released what she calls an NSA “reform” bill today.

Don’t be fooled: the bill codifies some of the NSA’s worst practices, would be a huge setback for everyone’s privacy, and it would permanently entrench the NSA’s collection of every phone record held by U.S. telecoms. We urge members of Congress to oppose it.   Continue reading “Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s New NSA Bill Will Codify and Extend Mass Surveillance of Americans”

Counter Punch- by James Madden

In my previous three articles to this site, I have challenged CounterPunchers to consider abandoning the United States, to become vegetarians, and to doubt the effectiveness of traditional protest methods. Now I am writing to convince you – my fellow anti-war, peace-loving progressives – to support an immediate, preemptive strike against an enemy that is rapidly amassing strength and has plans for an immense assault.   Continue reading “The Hillary Threat”

It started in 1866, that is, the beginning of gun control laws in Ottoman Turkey. Article 166 was the first, then further laws were enacted in 1911 and 1915. First permits were required, then came a government list of all gun owners, and finally, a ban on possession. It was gradual. The entire process took 49 years. Finally however, the citizens were disarmed. The government, of course, was not. The death toll? So many their number was never

In the Soviet Union the process advanced much faster. Gun control laws began under soviet resolutions in 1918. Then they enacted Articles 59 &182 of the penal code. First came licensing of owners, then a ban on possession with severe penalties. Continue reading “The Right to Bear Arms: A Biblical and Historical View”

The feds have threatened to criminally prosecute a novelty store owner who sells products—such as “Department of Homeland Stupidity” coffee mugs—making fun of the U.S. government. Could this be a matter of national security, or that Uncle Sam simply lacks a sense of humor?

To poke fun at the National Security Administration (NSA) the merchant, Dan McCall, sells T-shirts with the agency’s official seal that read: “The NSA: The only part of government that actually listens.” Other parodies say “spying on you since 1952” and “peeping while you’re sleeping.” The designs may seem funny—and possibly represent reality—but to the government it’s no laughing matter. In fact, it’s a serious issue worthy of an investigation and legal action.   Continue reading “U.S. Bullies Man over “Department of Homeland Stupidity” Mugs”

Industrial hemp has gained a lot of ground this year, with legislation introduced and moving in several states, and laws being signed in Colorado and Vermont already. In fact, just last week farmers in Colorado harvested the first U.S. hemp crop in decades – and they did it in complete disregard for federal law. Hemp is such a versatile plant – with uses ranging from food to textiles – and is so heavily imported by the U.S., that it simply makes no sense not to grow it.   Continue reading “Washington State Will Keep Pushing For Industrial Hemp”
