WASHINGTON (Reuters) – China’s military has expanded its bomber operations in recent years while “likely training for strikes” against the United States and its allies, a Pentagon report released on Thursday said.

The assessment, which comes at a time of heightened U.S.-China tensions over trade, was contained in an annual report that highlighted China’s efforts to increase its global influence, with defense spending that the Pentagon estimates exceeded $190 billion in 2017.   Continue reading “Pentagon says China military ‘likely training for strikes’ on U.S. targets”

The mayor of the ever increasingly violent city of London is now seeking a ban on cars in certain areas after a “car attack.”  Since banning guns and regulating knives hasn’t worked, Sadiq Khan said he’s likely to ban cars to prevent future terrorist attacks.

Violence in London continues to spike regardless of the weapons used by those committing acts of aggression. But since a gun ban and severe knife regulations have failed to stop violence, Khan wants certain areas to be “car free zones” in response to an alleged terror attack committed with a car. According to Politico, Khan says his proposed car ban would help keep people and buildings safe after car drives into cyclists and pedestrians.   Continue reading “London Mayor Wants A CAR BAN, Since Regulating Guns And Knives Failed”

The known carcinogen and infamous weed killing chemical glyphosate has just been found in breakfast foods marketed for children. A new study has discovered trace amounts of the most widely used herbicide in the country in oats, granolas, and snack bars.

Concern over glyphosate has continued to grow in the United States in recent years.  Although the chemical may be safe in some amounts to spray on weeds if certain safety precautions are taken, it is probably a lot more dangerous if it’s ingested by a child. Most disturbing, however, is the fact that thirty-one out of 45 tested products had levels of glyphosate that were higher than what many scientists consider safe for children.   Continue reading “Weed-Killing Carcinogen Glyphosate Found In Children’s Foods”

PARKLAND, Fla. (Reuters) – The Florida high school where a gunman killed 17 people in February opened on Wednesday for a new school year with three armed guards and other new security measures that some parents and students worried would not be enough.

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, doubled its campus security detail to 18, including three armed uniformed sheriff’s deputies. The school’s 3,300 students wore new identification badges as they funneled through three entrances at the sprawling 45-acre campus.   Continue reading “Florida school opens for class with new security after massacre”

With Tesla scrambling to produce as many Model 3s as possible to meet Wall Street expectations, it is no surprise that the company has recently been plagued with anecdotal reports of shoddy workmanship and quality control issues. And what just happened over the weekend to the (formerly) delighted owner of a brand new Model 3 confirms many of these stories.

A person bought a Tesla Model 3, and, within the first 30 minutes of driving the car back home, the rear bumper cover falls off, Jalopnik reported. The owner, Rithesh Nair, tweeted a picture of his car, directly letting Elon Musk know about his new exposed behind: “1/2 hr, bringing Model 3 home, run in to heavy rain on the streets & bumper comes off.”   Continue reading “Tesla Model 3 Bumper Falls Off After 30 Minutes And “Heavy Rain””

For those who’ve for years been fighting Monsanto, affectionately known as the world’s most evil corporation, a San Francisco jury’s decision last Friday to fine the company $289 million is earth-shattering news. Apparently financial markets and analysts agree.

In the case of Dwayne Johnson vs. Monsanto, the plaintiff was awarded an enormous amount of money after contracting non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). The jury decided that Johnson’s cancer was most likely the result of exposure to Monsanto’s Roundup and Ranger herbicide products, which Johnson routinely applied as a school groundskeeper.  Continue reading “Bayer Stock Nosedives After Jury Finds Monsanto Guilty of Covering Up Cancer Risks”

Several hours after Turkey unveiled its first tentative steps toward capital controls when late on Sunday the country’s banking regulator imposed a limit on the amount of foreign currency and lira swap and swap-like transactions (not to exceed 50% of the bank’s shareholder equity) yet failed to halt the collapse in the Turkish lira, the Turkish central bank made its first move to support the financial system and investor confidence, also without much success.   Continue reading “Turkey Rolls Out Prison Threats After Central Bank Steps In To Halt Lira Crash, Fails”

Have you ever heard of Senate Joint Resolution 59 (S.J.Res. 59)? Neither had I. A friend of mine saw a blurb about it on an obscure national security blog and brought it to my attention. At first glance it didn’t seem to be any big deal. It’s inelegantly named the “Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) of 2018.” It was introduced on April 16, 2018 by Senators Bob Corker (R-TN), the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (SFRC), and Tim Kaine (D-VA). Officially, the bill would “Authorize the use of military force against the Taliban, al-Qaeda, the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, and designated associated forces, and provide an updated, transparent, and sustainable statutory basis for counterterrorism operations.”  Continue reading “Giving Trump Carte Blanche for War”

A San Francisco Jury awarded $289 million in damages to a former school groundskeeper, Dewayne Johnson, who said Monsanto’s Roundup weedkiller gave him terminal cancer. The award consists of $40 million in compensatory damages and $250 million in punitive damages.

Johnson’s trial was fast-tracked due to the severe state of his non-Hodgkins lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph system he says was triggered by Roundup and Ranger Pro, a similar glyphosate herbicide that he applied up to 30 times per year. His doctors didn’t think he’d live to live to see the verdict.    Continue reading “Monsanto Slammed With $289 Million Verdict In Historic ‘RoundUp’ Cancer Lawsuit”

Akron, OH — Surveillance footage from outside of an Akron nightclub last year has just been released showing the moment Jamon Pruiett picked up a licensed handgun and fired it at some who just shot at him. Pruiett was later arrested for the shooting because the person he shot back at was a cop.

Now, however, nearly a year after the shooting, Pruiett has been acquitted for the felony charge of shooting at an officer.   Continue reading “Man Acquitted After Shooting at a Police Officer Because the Cop Shot First for No Reason”
