Two white doves released by children standing alongside Pope Francis as a peace gesture today were attacked by other birds.
As tens of thousands of people watched in St. Peter’s Square, a seagull and a large black crow swept down on the doves right after they were set free from an open window of the Apostolic Palace.
One dove lost some feathers as it broke free from the gull. But the crow pecked repeatedly at the other dove. It was not clear what happened to the doves as they flew off.

While speaking at the window beforehand, Francis had appealed for peace in Ukraine, after at least three people were killed during the latest clashes in the two-month crisis.
Police and demonstrators in Kiev fought again as protests against President Viktor Yanukovich’s abrupt turn away from the European Union towards Russia, Ukraine’s former Soviet overlord.
‘I am close to Ukraine in prayer, in particular to those who have lost their lives in recent days and to their families,’ Francis said in his weekly Angelus in St Peter’s Square.
‘I hope that a constructive dialogue between the institutions and civil society can take place, that any resort to violence is avoided and that the spirit of peace and a search for the common good is in the hearts of all.’

The mass rallies against President Yanukovich’s rule erupted last November after he pulled out of a free trade deal with the European Union in favour of closer economic ties with Russia.
They have since spiralled into protests against misrule and corruption among Ukraine’s leaders and officials.
There have been violent clashes with police in Kiev city centre, resulting in the death of three protesters last week, two from gunshot wounds.

Yup.
Many are calling this an “Ill Omen”.
Hahaha! God works in mysterious ways.
I guess that’s God’s way of saying, “Be gone, Satan!”
No different than Jesus whipping the bankers out of the temple.
I was going to add; How prophetic……
To the ancient Romans this would have been a very very ill omen.
Even to the modern World this might be a bad sign of things to come.
We’ll have to wait and see.
My Fellow Americans:
Even as a man of science,… I am loath to ignore the clear meaning:
The doves, being released by children (the symbols of purity, innocence,.. and vulnerablity)…. is us,… the people,.. seeking peace, seeking freedom.
The Seagull attacking the dove: We the people shall be attack from both the sea,.. and air.
The Crow attacking the dove: We the people shall be attack from below (subsurface launced attack?),.. by stealth and that which is not normally seen until the last moment (surprise ground attacks?, germs?, chems?, radiation?).
Notice the coloring on the Seagull,.. the heavy black on its wing tips,… showing a commonality with the crow.
It is interesting to note that in ancient times,.. the Romans NEVER initiated war without consulting the auger’s (temple priests gifted in prophecy)
One of the ways that was always used,.. there,.. in Rome,.. was to release the birds,.. and see if they circled and flew away in grace,… or were they molested or disturbed in their flight.
This kind of event,.. would be viewed as a terrible omen,.. an omen of war, death, destruction and finally,.. libration,… since the doves got away,.. but only after suffering and struggling to regain its freedom.
God is angry,.. and signs like this,.. seem to be right in line with what an intellectual understanding of our present, precarious postion indicates.
I would say,… dramatic events are about to unfold,.. and I was already indicating that on a daily basis without an omen like this!
JD – US Marines – I find ignoring the potential meaning of events like this,.. almost impossible to do. I take it that we are being given a warning of coming tribulations,.. by Air, Land & Sea.

And people find meaning in the turn of a card or the lines of a palm which leads me to believe that if such events have meaning there are clearly even less escoteric events which have at least as much meaning.But if nature had intended mankind to ponder on superstition it wouldn’t have cursed us with the reality that is or the blessing that it might become if witchcraft and omens are dispensed with in favor of reason and reflection.And the eagle flies with the dove….Just an old song.
I’ve never in my life seen a black crow attack anything living before. They are scavengers and eat anything dead or garbage or what’s in a MacDonald’s bag, they seem to know how to open those up. Look at a crows feet. They are not talons like a hawk or eagle. They were not meant to attack live things. This is a creepy omen. Seems to me anything this current pope touches get’s trashed.
I agree that this is prophetic, and the implications will be seen soon. God always foretells things before they come to pass. Watch! It is going to be a bumpy ride! I would suggest reading Ephesians 6, and put the full armor of God on, because we are going to need it.
