FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — 12 California public officials have acknowledged using personal e-mail accounts, to conduct government business.
That’s according to the AP, who surveyed 4 legislative leaders, and 8 top officials.
Governor Jerry Brown’s office says he occasionally uses private e-mail to contact staffers.
Schools Chief Tom Torlakson is said to use it for most of his official business. The survey comes as Hillary Clinton is under fire, for using personal e-mail during her time as U.S. Secretary of State.
But California has no blanket policy restricting the use of personal e-mail for government activities. It’s not clear if the private exchanges are stored, or subject to disclosure.
