The first story to kick off your week comes from Houston where a man and his wife out for the evening was confronted by an enterprising youth seeking to raise his minimum wage;

When the couple got out of their car, a man approached them, pulled out a gun and demanded their belongings and cash, officers say. The husband turned the tables on the crook and pulled out his own weapon.   Continue reading “Monday morning feel good stories”

Back in the day, leaders of the Mafia were known for invoking their Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination before congressional hearings.

But now it’s gangsters of a different kind who are doing it – top officials of the Internal Revenue Service.

Pleading the Fifth means one thing. You can only do it for one reason – to avoid making criminal admissions that can come back to haunt you in the courts.   Continue reading “When the IRS Pleads the Fifth”

Abby MartinRT News – March 6, 2014

Today RT America anchor Liz Wahl resigned on air, claiming she disagrees with the channel’s editorial stance. And here’s what I have to say about it.

These days it takes a lot of courage to work for RT. Never before have I seen RT and its journalists bullied like this. See for yourselves what they did to poor Abby. First, she openly voiced disagreement with Russia’s stance on air – and was virtually made an American hero. But then Abby reminded everyone how much she disagrees with America’s stance as well, adding she takes pride in working at RT, where she is free to express her views. FREEHOLD — Little Silver police officer Steven Solari was sentenced Thursday to five years in prison with no chance for release on parole for failing to take an injured man for medical treatment, repeatedly punching him in the head while handcuffed, lying in a police report to justify his actions and trying to get a first-aid responder to back up his lie.

Solari, 40, a member of the Little Silver police force since July 1999, also was ordered to forfeit his $91,000-a-year job and any future prospect for public employment, under the sentence handed down by Superior Court Judge Francis J. Study of 1.8 Million: Breast Screening Increases 'Lethal' Breast Cancer IncidenceGreen Med Info – by Sayer Ji

A powerful new study on the failure of mammograms to protect women against breast cancer, curiously absent from mainstream news health reporting, was published this month in The European Journal of Public Health, and is forcing the scientific and medical community, policy makers and the public at large to ask the question: can the now worldwide practice of mass breast screenings in healthy (asymptomatic) populations be justified when they increase the incidence of localized stage ‘cancers’ without reducing the incidence of advanced cancers?   Continue reading “Study of 1.8 Million: Breast Screening Increases ‘Lethal’ Breast Cancer Incidence”

Hi everyone!  I received this “senior discount” list from a friend and thought that it might be of some $$$ value.  Keep this list – – – and send a copy to your senior friends and relatives.  She sent me an email saying:

“As I was waiting in line behind an older gentleman at Wendy’s recently, I heard him ask for his senior discount. The girl at the register apologized and charged him less. When I asked the man what the discount was, he told me that seniors (people) over age 55 gets 10% off everything on the menu, every day.  This incident prompted me to do some research, and I came across a list of restaurants, supermarkets, department stores, travel deals and other types of offers giving various discounts with different age requirements. I was actually surprised to see how many there are and how some of them start at the young age of 50.”   Continue reading “Awesome Discounts for 50+ Customers”

With so many news stories circulating about brutality and injustice at the hands of the militarized police state, it’s often difficult to discern between the good cops and the bad cops.

In Connecticut, where lawmakers recently passed legislation that requires the confiscation of firearms from citizens of the State, the legislature assumed that police officers would simply follow the letter of the law, even if that law is an affront to the founding principles of the United States and has not yet been reviewed by the Supreme Court.   Continue reading “Breaking: Conn. Last weekend, I reported on Connecticut John Cinque’s 2013 warning to lawmakers that he would not comply with their attempts to force the citizens of Connecticut to register their semi-automatic weapons and high capacity magazines. Since that time, the video, though a year old, has gone viral. However, in a recent video between Mr. Cinque and Connecticut gubernatorial candidate Joe Visconti, Cinque reveals that a Branford, Connecticut police officer told him, “I Cannot Wait to Get the Order to Kick Your Door In.”   Continue reading “CT Cop to Gun Owning Patriot John Cinque: “I Cannot Wait to Get the Order to Kick Your Door In””

“Workers are repeating the exact same motion between 22,000 and 100,000 times per shift, and can develop some permanent disabilities from these repetitive motions. One study out of South Carolina found that 42 percent of workers had carpal tunnel syndrome – that’s astronomically high, and far higher than the industry ever likes to quote.” U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) inspector at a poultry processing facility in Accomac, Virginia checking for cleanliness and testing poultry for the Avian Influenza (AI) virus. WASHINGTON, Mar 7 2014 (IPS) – The U.S. government is in the final stages of weighing approval for an overhaul of regulations governing the country’s poultry industry that would see processing speeds increase substantially even while responsibility for oversight would be largely given over to plant employees.

The plan, which was originally floated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) two years ago, is currently slated to be finalised by regulators next month. Yet opposition has been heating up from lawmakers as well as labour, public health and consumer advocacy groups.   Continue reading “US Plans to Speed Poultry Slaughtering, Cut Inspections”

A young graffiti artist shot by a Miami Beach police Taser stun gun died of heart failure from the “energy device discharge,” authorities said Thursday.

Former Senior Counselor at the World Bank Karen Hudes has spent the last several years of her life working closely with whistle blowers from around the world to shed light on what she calls a “global conspiracy.”

While working for the World Bank as a member of their legal team Hudes uncovered so much corruption that she could no longer keep quiet. She followed the proper channels to report her findings, going first to the organization’s Evaluation Department and country directors, and then to the U.S. Treasury Department and even the United States Congress. All of her requests were ignored, and in some cases, completely covered up. So she did what any honest person would do. She went public. Suffice it to say, she received the typical treatment you’d expect for a whistle blower.   Continue reading “This World Bank Insider Will Blow You Away: “There Is A Huge Global Conspiracy””

Hampton, Florida (CNN) — How off-the-charts corrupt do you have to be to capture somebody’s attention in the Sunshine State?

You can lay claim to a 1,260-foot stretch of busy highway a mile outside of town and set up one of the nation’s most notorious speed traps. You can use the ticket money to build up a mighty police force — an officer for every 25 people in town — and, residents say, let drugs run rampant while your cops sit out by the highway on lawn chairs, pointing radar guns at everybody who passes by.   Continue reading “Speed trap city accused of corruption, threatened with extinction”

Rebels stand guard at the entrance of the Es Sider export terminal where a North Korean-flagged tanker has docked in Ras LanufYahoo News – by Ulf Laessing and Feras Bosalum

TRIPOLI (Reuters) – Libya threatened on Saturday to bomb a North Korean-flagged tanker if it tried to ship oil from a rebel-controlled port, in a major escalation of a standoff over the country’s petroleum wealth.

The rebels, who have seized three major Libyan ports since August to press their demands for more autonomy, warned Tripoli against staging an attack to halt the oil sale after the tanker docked at Es Sider terminal, one of the country’s biggest. The vessel started loading crude late at night, oil officials said.   Continue reading “Libya threatens to bomb North Korean tanker if it ships oil from rebel port”
