Citizen Pulls Over Cop, Demands ID & It’s Amazing

Published on Oct 20, 2014 by The Young Turks

“How’s this for a twist? An average citizen decided to pull a Washington state police officer over, asked him a few questions, and even checked his identification. Gavin Seim pulled the cop over for what appeared to be an unmarked sheriff car violation. And the conversation, remarkably, didn’t get as heated as you might think.

Seim asked the officer for some identification to prove who he is. After some hesitation, the officer obliged. He asked if this was some kind of game; Seim responded, “This isn’t a game, it’s called law.”

Seim proceeded to inform the officer that stopping people in an unmarked car is in violation of state law. He advised the officer to take the car back and said, “I know you’re smiling, but we the citizens do have a right to hold you guys accountable. If I’m in open violation of the law, I could call a sheriff out here and demand you be written up for this.””* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

  1. Wow, gotta give that guy cedit. How many of us would risk getting shot in the face doing something like this? I’m sure this would never fly most places.

  2. I like the guy Cenk spoke with at the end of he video…he is so right…this was going on in the black neighborhoods decades ago with very little outrage ………..seems we are ALL black now…

  3. Should have drug him out of his car & threw him on the ground & shot his dog! It would be only fair!

  4. Why is this guy angry and complaining at the end of the video? So what if this video gets attention and highlighted? At least it’s getting out there for us to see. And the guy talking to the cop is doing it the right way–respectful, firm, knows the law and citizen’s rights. What a great example for the rest of us to emulate. This guy at the end of the video needs to remove his ego and his emotions and just watch the video from a logical perspective. Let go of the “poor me” syndrome and appreciate what this man did, for all of us, by exerting his citizen’s rights.
