CAMDEN, Mo. – The Wilhite family claim a Camden police officer shot and killed their dog because he said he “feared for his life” and thought the dog was going to bite him, though they say their dog had no history of aggression.
The officer was called to their neighborhood because their dog had reportedly followed a girl and barked at her after she exited her school bus.
Speaking with the family at their home, the officer instructed the family they need to keep their dog on a leash.
As he was talking with them, the dog ran out of the family’s backyard and towards the officer, he responded by shooting it three times, killing it in the process.
A disturbing aspect of the story is when the local news media went to inquire as to what happened the police said they wouldn’t talk to the media and hung up on them–twice.
When the Wilhites went to file a complaint with the Camden police, whom the officer claimed to work for, they were instead redirected to the Ray County Sheriff’s Office, who told them they don’t accept complaints because they don’t do internal investigations.
They told them to file their complaint with a higher power such as the attorney general.
The sheriff’s office did confirm the officer was in their employ, but they said he may work for both departments.
If that is the case, as the officer himself allegedly claimed it was, they should have been able to file a complaint with them in the first place.

Golden Retrievers are some of the friendliest, least offensive or aggressive dogs. I hope that POS pig catches a slug to the face sometime soon.
And now the officer needs forever fear stepping out of his car any were any one ons or has a dog. And yes internal afairs is near imposable to reach any were in America with any police department if you have a ligit complaint about there officer. How they likes of them keep such clean records and are such outstanding officers all the time. They don’t take complaints and will come out to murder you if you press such against a officer in America. Been there know that about them.
The owner of that dog should stand outside that cops house and fear him coming out

Although dogs are innocent animals, if that cop shot my dog and I knew he owned a dog, I would have a hard time restraining myself from feeding that dog a lead sandwich. I don’t think I would stoop that low but there would definitely be some payback in order.
Dogs are great judges of character. And cops have none!
A dog picks up on the fact that cops are up to no good and need to keep them away from there family.
Cop are cowards afraid of everything. That is why most of them are wife beaters and abuse there power.
Cops are like little children afraid of everything but with guns and a badge.
I know a guy that quit being a cop. Said he could not work with that many aholes. Told me they all act like a bunch of dumb high school football players on power trips.
As long as we give people that are cowards guns and badges this is going to just keep happening.

One time I had a daschund-terrior mix dog (70s) and I took him his usual walk…Joe Willie never bothered anyone and was generally friendly, lets folks pet him, etc. Well one day Joe Willie suddenly started growling as some man came along and nearly jumped up while leashed and nearly bit the man as the man passed by (all the while I held the leash tightly, fearing what could happen). The man was pissed and I apologized and scolded Joe Willie. Later I found out from someone that the man Joe Willie wanted to attack looked, said this someone, like a cop he knew. Can’t verify this, but it would make sense (I have always thought the man was abusive of dogs.)
Golden retrievers are most certainly NOT vicious dogs by any means. They are harmless. A chihuahua is more dangerous than a golden retriever.
Only a person who has a fear of dogs or is sick in the mind would shoot a golden retriever.
The title should be “Cop officially became a coward when he shot family’s golden retriever”.
But if you kill a cops dog you get a murder of police officer charge to them and the court there is no difference if he is man or dog it’s still murder .
