A Texas police officer is under investigation after cell phone video surfaced showing him knocking a mother unconscious by slamming her to the pavement in full public view.
On Tuesday, Round Rock police officer Ben Johnson responded to a call at a shopping center involving 27-year-old Viviana Keith.
Dash cam footage shows Officer Johnson detaining Keith on the hood of his cruiser.
But another angle shot by a nearby Wing Stop customer shows the gruesome moment the officer slammed Keith to the pavement, her face brutally hitting the concrete causing her to lose consciousness.
Johnson eventually rolls Keith over and checks for a pulse, as her six-year-old daughter approaches, screaming, “Mommy! Mommy!”
Witnesses on the scene said the mother appeared to be dead.
“When I look back at the tape, I can see her head bounce off the concrete because when he threw her down, she wasn’t able to brace herself,” the person who shot the video told KVUE, adding he “wanted to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation.”
“She was absolutely unconscious.”
“There were a couple of other gentleman in the store with me and we were saying, ‘is she breathing?’ Because at first we weren’t seeing her stomach rise and fall.”
Prior to the incident, Keith was reportedly belligerent inside a nail salon.
“She was a little loud, and disruptive,” a Deluxe Nails patron told KVUE. “She said she was very tired, really tired and they said, ‘Maybe you should go home and get some sleep,’ and then she turned around and stumbled out.”
After that, police say they also received calls about an “erratic driver, driving carelessly.”
Witnesses say Keith’s daughter revealed her mother had been drinking all day.
Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks upon viewing the footage said he stands by Officer Johnson’s decision to brutalize the “very combative, very argumentative and also very intoxicated” mother, saying the four-year police force veteran followed protocol.
“The officer was very professional, was talking to her calm, he wasn’t excited, he wasn’t angry,” Banks said. “It’s unfortunate, the fact that this lady did what appears to hit her head and was knocked unconscious, but I’ll tell you, the officer did what he was supposed to do in a situation like that.”
A mugshot from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office shows Keith sustained a black eye and a large cut.
She is currently in jail facing charges of driving while intoxicated with a child younger than 15 and interfering with public duties.
Officer Johnson is still on the job as Round Rock Police investigate the use of force incident.
The chief says the cop did what was required in a situation like this. Unbelievable!! This woman was doing nothing!!
Typical Round Rock PD behavior. 🙁
yeah. They don’t even accuse her of any crime. Loud and argumentative is cause for a pig to slam your head into the pavement hard enough to leave you unconscious, and of course, pig boss says it’s fine.
I live for the day when these pigs get what they have coming. NO rational person can defend their behavior; but their bosses never fail to.
I’m surprised he didn’t beat the crap out of the four year-old, too.
“She is currently in jail facing charges of driving while intoxicated with a child younger than 15 and interfering with public duties.”
What the heck is “interfering with public duties”? Is that one of the millions of “laws” on the books? Man, they just make it up as they go don’t they.
Just off the top there is obviously something very askew if an officer this size under these circumstances could not cuff this woman and place her under arrest without throwing her to the ground that resulted in her being knocked out. In the what if department, imagine if she had died as a result of her injuries to the head? Would it still be Chief Banks position that the officer acted out professionally? Because I think we all know that this could have gone that way fairly easily..like an unprotected living head hitting concrete in a forceful manner..yeah I can see how someone could die from that just as easily as they could live through that. Is it just me?………
The suspense is killing me !!! Start the ball Tector !!!
When we read this kind of thing on a regular basis its far from a few bad cops out there doing this especially when most of the time the Chiefs in charge of these criminals stand behind them. This is going to get very nasty and to think otherwise is not going to change a thing!
As a central Texan, i can verify that this department of code enforcers are vile. I’m sure NC can corroborate. Molon Labe
So can Hubby and I. 😉
Looking forward to NC’s comment. 😆
Hey Angel, 🙂
“… but I’ll tell you, the officer did what he was supposed to do in a situation like that.”
Straight from the @ss’s mouth.
Translation: Regardless of whether it is an easily containable situation or not, the detainee must be as thoroughly incapacitated in as savage a manner humanly possible.
Even if it results in death.
In Sang, Co. IL. they beat you for so much as speaking to a cop. And beat you for not speaking to a cop. So there is no set rules to obey around the cops today. Just what the cop feels like doing and the mood he is in. Makes for a very bad situation being in sight of any cop today. As such they must go and rules of law be returned. And new cops hired that know what a law is.
She was probably insulting him by telling the truth. His mother’s a whore & his father’s a convict. Hurt his widdow feewings. F— cops!
Oh yea, this is the same Round Rock police department that arrested me for taking my dog to the dog park and gave me bruises after throwing me to the ground and then telling the paramedics that I was the one who caused the cuts and that they were there before they came up to my car.
Unfrigginbelievable….
This is the same Round Rock police department that responds to an assault by tasering the victim (in this case, ME) and not the criminal and then telling me not to press charges on the officer that tased me. This is when I had five other people who were there witnessing the whole thing take place from start to finish. In addition to that, I had the criminal all restrained and gift-wrapped for the police, yet they still felt the need to put me in handcuffs and taser me, even after the witnesses were yelling at them and saying, “Why are you tasering him? HE’S THE VICTIM!!!”.
These are the same police who hires an officer like Officer Cox who after I ask, “What? Do you think you’re god now?” responds by saying with an evil smirk, “You know, I guess I am.”
These are the same police who hire an Internal Affairs officer like Rey Rodriguez who says that the police officer who tasered me was exonerated of any wrong doing and was following department policy and yet apologizes for the tasering that happened to me and insulting my intelligence by trying to make me believe it was just an accident and not his intention.
They are nothing but psychotic criminals of the highest Gestapo order who deserve to burn in Hell for all of eternity, as far as I’m concerned. Hope the whole damn precinct burns to the ground. I’ll be partying when that happens. It will be well deserved justice.
The first one would have been the last one
That stupid McAllister’s girl says she probably didn’t deserve that, but she did resist a little.
WOW!! Omg…What a F**KING SHEEPLE!!! And so because she was resisting a little, that gives an officer the right to knock her unconscious. WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE??!!! How do they live with themselves? She looks like she spends half her time on Facebook or the Idiotbox to know any better. Maybe she’d change her mind if she was tased or thrown unconscious for no reason, too.
Unfrigginbelievable….
Of course the first woman they interviewed looked like she was reading off a cue-card. Funny, how they don’t report on anyone who disagrees with the whole thing other than her mother. As always, make the cop look good, while discrediting the victim. Typical MSM propaganda and biased bullshit!
“That stupid McAllister’s girl”
Sorry, meant to say, “That stupid Maspajitas girl”. Couldn’t read her red t-shirt before, as I was blinded by her stupidity.
