UNITED NATIONS — Iran, North Korea and Syria blocked adoption Thursday of a U.N. treaty that would regulate the multibillion-dollar international arms trade which required agreement by all 193 U.N. member states.

In an unexpected twist, Mexico proposed that the conference go ahead and adopt the treaty Thursday without the support of the three countries, saying there was no definition of “consensus.” Delegates then started debating whether this should be done and several countries supported Mexico, but the Russian delegation called the proposal “a manipulation of consensus” and objected.   Continue reading “Iran, North Korea, Syria block arms trade treaty”

Since Senator Dianne Feinstein’s (D-CA) massive gun control bill is going down in flames due to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-NV) decision to stop it in its tracks, that didn’t mean that the gun grab was over. In fact, that seems to have been all political theater. The real threat comes in Harry Reid’s own S 649 bill, or as its innocuous title is referred to as Safe Communities, Safe Schools Act of 2013. It’s anything but safe for communities, schools or freedom and has sweeping legislation that has the potential to destroy gun ownership in America. Israel’s Homeland Security

The British conservatism has surrendered to technology. British forces are to be given a new standard issue handgun for the first time in more than 40 years. According to the BBC the Ministry of Defense has signed a £9m contract to provide the Armed Forces with more than 25,000 new side-arms and holsters from Austria’s Glock. It will replace the Browning 9 mm pistol which has been in service since 1967.The Glock 17 9 mm pistol is lighter than the Browning and can be fired faster, within a second or so.   Continue reading “New handgun for British troops.”

This is a recipe handed down to me by my mom. It’s been in my family since I was a kid (back when dirt was new). I’ve tweaked it slightly to my own satisfaction, but will also provide the original specs. I’ve yet to come across a store-bought cookie that equals them.

• 2 cups sugar
• 1/3 cup cocoa
• 3 cups oatmeal (1 minute ONLY)
• 1/2 cup peanut butter (creamy)
• 1/2 cup milk (or 1/2 & 1/2)

If there was any doubt that the military has new confidence in its forthcoming laser arsenal, the Navy’s top geeks want to outfit Marines with a laser cannon to shoot small drones out of the sky.

Specifically, the Office of Naval Research thinks that Marine air-ground task forces are too vulnerable to adversaries flying cheap, small spy drones overhead, like the four-pound Raven the Marines themselves used in Iraq. But for residents along this stretch of the English channel at the top and the bottom of the White Cliffs of Dover had a lucky escape when a huge chunk of chalk fell into the sea.

The Intel Hub

Over the weekend the secret service responded to anonymous tips that a man in an Ohio restaurant was making threats against president Obama.  Apparently the man was overheard saying that he was going to “take Obama out”.

What makes this story even more interesting is that this suspect claims to be the son of late president Dwight D.
