The CIA recently signed a $600 million deal with Amazon, allegedly for the use of their cloud computing technology. The large contract has some users concerned about their privacy, because many of them feel that being on the same cloud as the CIA puts their information at risk.

The Philadelphia Veterans Affairs office announced Wednesday that it would hold a Halloween parade on Friday for children of VA employees, but warned employees not to hand out any candy or sweets to the kids.

And 75-year-old retired hairdresser Paul Griffith learned this the hard way at that nation’s Stansted airport while traveling to Malaga, Spain, for a weeklong vacation earlier this year.

The Temple Institute is an Israeli organization focused on building the Third Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, on or next to the Dome of the Rock Mosque.

One of it’s most prominent supporters, Yehuda Glick, was shot three times yesterday.  He had just finished a lecture called “Israel Returns to the Temple Mount” before being shot in the head, neck, and chest at close range.  I could understand the violence a little more if Glick was one of the more offensive activists calling for Jews to blow up the Dome of the Rock Mosque.  But he is a reasonable man who just wants Jews to have the same rights to worship on the Temple Mount in Israel’s capital that the Muslims already enjoy there.   Continue reading “Jerusalem’s Next Temple: Leading Supporter Shot”

A New Mexico sheriff’s deputy is accused of shooting a fellow officer to death at a Las Cruces hotel during an alcohol-fueled argument early on Tuesday morning and was expected to face charges in the case, police said.

The Chicago crime rate has finally shown some signs of decreasing – and a debate has broken out over the reasons behind the drop.

City officials credit better police work with the drop in violent crime and theft in the city, but one major crime-deterring factor appears to have been summarily dismissed by Chicago leaders – a new concealed carry law.

Since Chicago began issuing concealed carry permits last year, robbery arrests have declined 20 percent, burglary arrests are down by the same percentage, and vehicle thefts have decreased by a total of 26 percent, The Washington Times reported. The Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem has been closed to all worshipers for the first time since 1967. Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas called the closure a ‘declaration of war.’

Both Jewish and Muslim worshipers will be prohibited from visiting the site “until further notice,”Israel’s public security minister said.
