The Central Intelligence Agency on Wednesday updated rules relating to the collection, retention and dissemination of information on Americans, including putting a limit of five years on holding certain sensitive data and introducing restrictions for querying the data.

The announcement by the spy agency comes a few days before President-elect Donald Trump takes charge, and could address concerns expressed by civil rights groups about the collection and handling of information on Americans in the course of overseas surveillance. Military officials say the rogue state wants to send a “strategic message” to the incoming US President  by timing launches to ruin his big day tomorrow.

When a utility worker in Key Largo, Fla., noticed that a section of a paved street was not settling properly, he decided to remove a manhole cover and descend into the earth.

Moments later on Monday morning, the 15-foot-deep hole went silent. Sensing the man was trapped, a fellow utility worker climbed into the drainage hole to rescue him. A former Contra Costa County sheriff’s deputy was arrested Friday in connection with a shooting at a Sacramento house party, Sacramento police said.

The CIA has published online nearly 13 million pages of declassified records, including papers on the US role in overthrowing foreign governments and the secret ‘Star Gate’ telepathy project.

The range of documents, known as the CREST (CIA Records Search Tool) database, covers an array of materials related to the Vietnam War, Korean War and Cold War. Prosecutors charged a Chicago police officer on Wednesday with first-degree murder after he was accused of fatally shooting an unarmed man during an altercation while off-duty, authorities said.

A letter from Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who is accused of being the mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks, to President Barack Obama has been delivered to the White House nearly three years after it was written.
