Thomasville, GA — Thomasville police officers have been cleared by a grand jury in the shooting death of 37-year-old Herbert Gilbert Jr. Following the grand jury’s ruling that the officer-involved-shooting was justified, Thomasville Police released body camera footage of the deadly encounter. The graphic footage shows Gilbert’s attempt to flee in his SUV, only to be gunned down by officers who presumably feared for their lives. Gilbert did not have a gun, was not attempting to run-over any officers, and was actually backing up his vehicle when officer Josh Smith shot him 8 times through the windshield. His original crime? Russian President Vladimir Putin has held a meeting with the Syrian leader Bashar Assad in Sochi, the acting presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. The two leaders conducted “extensive” negotiations, he added.
As the two presidents talked about the conditions that would facilitate the peace process development, the Syrian leader said that he had decided to send a delegation to a committee tasked to rewrite Syria’s constitution, which was championed by the UN. The moving of the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem al Quds on Monday was marked by Israeli Defense Forces killing more than 60 unarmed Palestinian protestors. It should have surprised no one that, despite the convening of a UN Security Council meeting to discuss the genocide, the US government said nothing to condemn the Israeli slaughter. Department of Justice (DOJ) prosecutors and at least one federal judge appear to not be executing Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ policy of zero tolerance for illegal border crossers.
“If you cross the border unlawfully, then we will prosecute you — it’s that simple. If you smuggle illegal aliens across our border, we will prosecute you,” Sessions said earlier this month. While that sounds absolute in theory, in practice it appears to be quite different, the Washington Times reports. LAS VEGAS (INTELLIHUB) — A survivor of the 1 October massacre told police two days after the shooting in a tape recorded interview that he witnessed a man dressed all in black who was carrying a large black rifle surrender to police near East Reno Avenue and Giles Street as he exited the Route 91 venue during the attack.
“Um, so we ran across the street and that’s when I saw it but she didn’t see it. There was a — so by Reno there was a bunch of cop cars. And then closer to the exit there was a bunch of cop cars. I’m walking in between, there’s a guy dressed in black holding […] a giant rifle in his hand,” the witness told police. “He had his hands up like, he was, like, surrendering. And everybody just kept yelling, like, ‘oh my gosh, that’s the shooter’ or ‘that’s one of them. March 8, 2018 (WASHINGTON) – Clean diesel technology upgrades for large tug and switcher locomotive engines cost only $4,379 to $15,201 per ton of nitrogen oxides (NOx), compared to more than $30,000 per ton of NOx for many other diesel emission reduction projects.
The Diesel Technology Forum (DTF) and the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) today released a reportdocumenting the significant emission reduction benefits that can be gained by replacing older engines in tug boats and switcher locomotives with the latest clean diesel models. Funds from Volkswagen’s (VW) $2.9 billion environmental trust, established to mitigate for the excess emissions resulting from defeat devices on 590,000 diesel vehicles, can be used to help pay the cost of repowering these and other old diesel engines. SOFIA, Bulgaria (AP) — The European Union has called on U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration to stop threatening it with tariffs on steel and aluminum, saying Thursday it is prepared to discuss new trade incentives.
In March, Trump slapped tariffs of 25 percent on steel imports and 10 percent on imported aluminum, but granted the 28 EU countries a temporary exemption until June 1. He also temporarily exempted big steel producers Canada and Mexico, provided they agree to renegotiate a North American trade deal to his satisfaction. ALISO VIEJO, Calif. (AP) — A former boyfriend of a woman killed in a California office building explosion has been arrested on suspicion of possessing an unregistered destructive device, the FBI said Thursday.
The arrest of Stephen Beal, 59, followed a search of his Long Beach residence by authorities, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said in a statement. He was not being held in connection with Tuesday’s explosion and was expected to appear in U.S. District Court in Santa Ana later Thursday. Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano has erupted and sent ash spewing 30,000 feet into the sky before raining down on a nearby town, with residents being warned to shelter in place as the dusty plume engulfs the island.
The powerful, steam-driven explosion occurred on Thursday at 4.17am and started spewing large amounts of volcanic ash and smoke from the crater on Hawaii’s Big Island that shot higher than the peak of Mount Everest.
