MARTIN COUNTY, FL — A disabled vet is being called a hero after his quick thinking saved a pregnant woman from an attack last night. It happened while the man, Joshua Anderson, was fishing underneath the Jensen Beach Causeway. He saw a pregnant woman in distress and sprang into action.
While fishing, Anderson saw a fight between two homeless men; Brett Jowers and Zachery Sly. During the fight, the sheriff says that Jowers pushed Sly’s pregnant girlfriend onto the ground.
“He saw a woman being attacked at night, and he went to her aid. In my opinion I think he did the right thing,” the sheriff says.
He says the two homeless men were threatening Anderson and one of them shoved him.
That’s when witnesses say Anderson told the two that he had a gun and that they should back off.
But the sheriff says the two didn’t leave him alone, and that’s when he shot them both in the torso.
Immediately following the shooting, Anderson called 911 to report the incident. The sheriff says that due to Anderson’s disability, he would have been unable to defend himself against the two men without his firearm.
Anderson will not be facing any charges. As for the two men, they are both in the hospital listed in critical condition and once released, will likely be facing charges.
You can listen to the 911 call below:
A good guy with a gun protecting not only himself, family, inocent bystanders but the woman he didn’t know being abused.
