FBI: Black Friday Background Checks ‘Shattered Single-Day Record’

Breitbart – by AWR Hawkins

A record number of gun-buyers flooded into retail stores on Black Friday, according to federal data, which showed that background checks surged to an unprecedented 185,345.

The previous Black Friday record, set last year, was just over 175,000 background checks. The previous single-day record, set December 21, 2012, was approximately 177,000.

FBI spokesman Stephen Fischer said “Black Friday [2015] shattered the single-day record with 185,345 background checks processed in a 24-hour period — or slightly more than two background-checks every second,” according to The Trace, a group of journalists who tend to favor gun-control.

That makes Black Friday 2015 the highest single day for background checks ever.

The FBI had predicted that Black Friday would break records, as it followed unprecedented sales from May through October.

Breitbart News previously reported that May, June, July, August, September, and October were all record-breaking months for background checks. May had the most background checks of any May on record, June had the most of any June, July of any July, and so forth.

It is important to note that the number of background checks performed does not necessarily indicate the number of guns sold, as background checks are performed on the buyers of guns rather than the guns being bought.

Many buyers who passed a background check may have purchased more than one gun. If only 9 percent of buyers bought two guns each, then the total number of guns bought on Friday exceeded 200,000.

  1. OUTSTANDING!!!

No wonder they had S.B. (allegedly) shot up today. Nothing like skyrocketing sales to put the fear of guns into communists.

    lol… #223 on this article… 🙂

    1. What’s 223? and yes, I smiled 2 times today at lunch. Maurice Strong died and the Kenyan broke the sales record for the republic.

      1. But literally, it’s the # of times this article was clicked on when I came up. It’s below the ‘share this’ line…

  2. Indeed, although I’m sure you know, 5.56 does not behave as to be safe in any .223 rifle and the head space in converse doesn’t always behave in any 5.56. I know ex-miltary that still believe…scary.

Side note to the people: if you can’t afford a 5.56 belcher, don’t buy a POS AR! Plus you save yourself the nooB time of memorizing ballistic tables that strictly do not apply to your confused reality. Life is not a movie……and chances are you can’t hit shit if you don’t know even the simplest of american weaponry? From 22 year memory the 5.56 has a drop of 21 feet at 1000 yds? Just stop and realize you are not a sniper, you never will be, you don’t know and never will memorize what a .308 is and what it can do beyond some flick you watched on youtube and how many beers you can actually drink with a friend while walking to your “””””SMALL””””” man sized target at 999 m’s. These are things that just don’t happen to you. Get over yourself and just stop. Perhaps, I’m on too many gun forums, but still.

Doesn’t matter anyhow, only real men shoot 7mm, .300 ultra’s,.338 and exotics they make by them selves. And oh yes, 20 g. sabots at 250 yds my favorite. Sermon rant over, apologies, that was refreshing for me 🙂 Feel like 100 dollars now, thanks.
